This 2025 edition of Liege-Bastogne-Liege is once again shaping up as a face-off between two of the contenders next June for victory in the Tour de France, Tadej Pogacar and Remco Evenepoel.

Based on what we saw a few days ago in the Amstel Gold Race, we would have to consider Remco Evenepoel as the top favorite for victory, especially for the power he showed in this race, being the only cyclist in recent years to have managed to neutralize an attack from the Slovenian, and also because of the extra freshness with which he arrives at the event, with just four days of competition in his legs.

On the other hand, for Tadej Pogacar, this will be the last race of the spring before stepping out of the spotlight, first to rest and then to face the specific preparation for the Tour de France. The UAE Team Emirates-XRG rider himself confessed, both after the chase he had to make on the way to Roubaix and after the attack in Amstel, that in both cases, he had blown up in the attempt. However, one should never rule out the surprising ability of the Slovenian, and it is very likely that, being more calculated, we will see him on the top step of the podium.

Although he had to fight against the odds in Amstel, Ben Healy was one of the most active cyclists in the chase after Pogacar's attack. We are talking about a Ben Healy who has the legs to win Liege-Bastogne-Liege, although on a second tier behind the two monsters. However, if he manages to evade surveillance, he is one of the cyclists called to potentially surprise, just like Mattias Skjelmose did, who, of course, must also be included among the favorites to be at the front along with his teammate at Lidl-Trek, Thibau Nys, who has also shown great form but lacks the finishing touch in a big race.

A completely classic and recognizable route of the 252 kilometers that make up the Liege-Bastogne-Liege 2025. A route as always divided into two parts. A first part, the journey to Bastogne, which although runs through the rugged terrain of the Ardennes, avoids the most complicated areas and presents in its first 83 kilometers terrain conducive to the formation of the usual breakaway of the day.

It is in the return leg to the capital of Wallonia when the uninterrupted succession of climbs begins, but it will not be until kilometer 158, when Mont le Soie, Wanne, and Stockeu are faced, that the race definitively accelerates and the dogfight begins for every centimeter as teams start to move their pieces.

From this point, the race becomes an accumulation of attrition that, in recent years, has its climax at the mythical climb of La Redoute, 34 kilometers from the finish, which due to its toughness has served both Pogacar and Evenepoel to seal the race. In any case, who knows if, with the equality that has been seen between them, we will see the outcome here or if we will have to wait for the grueling Roche aux Faucons, the latter just 13 kilometers from the finish, to know the winner of this 2025 edition.
