The Insta360 X4 Air redefines bike recording: 8K, FlowState stabilization, and gesture control

The Insta360 brand once again raises the bar in the world of immersive imaging with the launch of the new Insta360 X4 Air, a compact and ultralight 360 camera weighing only 165 grams that promises to bring 8K recording to any terrain.

The X4 Air is the lightest 8K 360 camera ever made by Insta360, and it inherits many of the innovations from the renowned X series. Its dual 1/1.8" sensors and new image processing capture richer details and natural colors, with a 134% increase in pixel area compared to its predecessor.

The image quality is also enhanced thanks to the AdaptiveTone algorithm, which automatically adjusts exposure in each lens to balance lights and shadows without the need for post-processing. Additionally, active HDR up to 8K 30 fps expands the dynamic range in real time, and the portrait mode ensures more natural skin tones.

Despite its size, the new camera does not compromise on durability. The X4 Air features user-replaceable lenses with an ultra-resistant optical coating, double the durability of the X4, water resistance up to 15 meters, and the well-known FlowState stabilization with Horizon Lock 360°, designed to record sports, action, or bike rides smoothly.

Insta360 aims with this model to offer a lighter option than its flagship X5, but without sacrificing key features. Both record 8K 360 video at 30 fps and share accessory compatibility, although the X4 Air focuses on portability and ease of use.

The camera comes with intelligent tools that simplify its handling, such as:

• Spin to capture, which allows you to start or stop recording with a simple twist of the selfie stick.
• Gesture or voice control, ideal when the camera is mounted out of reach or during action.
• InstaFrame mode, which simultaneously records a flat video ready to share and a full 360° version.

Post-production work is also accelerated thanks to the Insta360 app, which uses AI to automatically create edited clips with transitions, music, and reframing, reducing what used to take hours to minutes.

The X4 Air integrates with Apple, Garmin, and HUAWEI to synchronize location, movement, or performance data directly into the videos. Additionally, it includes a free one-year subscription to the Insta360+ service (200 GB), which allows for automatic backups and sharing of 360° videos with interactive playback.
