The Giro d'Italia arrives in Fortnite with a map that replicates its key stages
The Giro d'Italia fully enters the digital universe with its launch in Fortnite, one of the most popular virtual games in the world. The Italian round launches its own project within the game that replicates part of its route and adapts the logic of a grand tour to an interactive format.
The Giro d'Italia opens a new dimension in Fortnite
The initiative has become a reality in a customized map developed within the Epic Games ecosystem, built from eight real locations from the official route. The virtual course includes Catanzaro, Naples, the ascent to Blockhaus in Abruzzo, Viareggio, Aosta, Milan, Gemona del Friuli, and Rome as the final destination, bringing a representative selection of the geography and competitive profile of the race into the digital environment.
The design of the map is not limited to an aesthetic recreation. The goal is for the game to replicate dynamics typical of stage cycling, with progression through segments, checkpoints, and a classification based on accumulated time. The player can advance along paved roads, tackle differentiated sectors, and unlock content, including the iconic jerseys of the Giro, integrated as collectible elements within the experience.

One of the most relevant aspects of the project is the introduction of the bicycle as a means of transportation within Fortnite, something unprecedented in the game until now. This integration is done in collaboration with DE ROSA Bikes, which acts as the official bicycle of the Giro d'Italia 2026 and provides the technical link to real cycling.
From a strategic point of view, the project aims to reach a new audience. The organization, managed by RCS Sport, relies on the experience of NOVO Esports to build a proposal aimed at a younger and more digital audience. The use of Fortnite as a platform is not coincidental, as it has over 650 million registered users, allowing the event to connect with a global community that goes beyond traditional cycling.
Access to the map is done using the code 2964-6590-5518 within the game itself, where users can compete for times and complete the course to reach the Trofeo Senza Fine in its virtual version.
