The coach of Vingegaard will now be Evenepoel's
The performance structure of Red Bull–BORA–hansgrohe has already found a replacement for Dan Lorang. The German team announced this Wednesday the immediate incorporation of Tim Heemskerk, one of the most influential coaches from Visma Lease a Bike and a key figure in the development of Jonas Vingegaard during the years in which the Dane conquered the Tour de France. His arrival also opens a new scenario around Remco Evenepoel, who will now work within the technical environment of the Dutch coach.
The brain of Visma that took Vingegaard to the Tour will now coach Evenepoel
The announcement comes just three months after Heemskerk confirmed his departure from Visma after eight seasons within the performance department led by Mathieu Heijboer. He explained then that he needed to regain “creativity and passion” in his daily work after a long cycle in the Dutch formation. Although he stated that he wanted to take some time to reflect on his future, his return to the WorldTour has been much quicker than expected.

Red Bull – BORA – hansgrohe has not yet detailed which riders will work directly under Heemskerk's supervision, but it has confirmed that he will be part of the coaching group led by John Wakefield and will take on the preparation of several WorldTour cyclists. All signs point to one of the central names in this new arrangement being Evenepoel, especially after the departure of Dan Lorang, the coach who was supposed to lead the Belgian's evolution towards a more competitive profile in grand tours against riders like Tadej Pogačar.

The arrival of Heemskerk also further strengthens Red Bull's commitment to building one of the most powerful high-performance environments in the peloton. In the official statement, Zak Dempster, the team's head sports director, highlighted that the Dutchman brings “very valuable experience working with grand tour riders” and fits into the collaborative culture they want to continue developing within the structure.

His signing also has an evident strategic reading. Heemskerk not only worked for years in the ecosystem that led Vingegaard to win two Tours, but he also was part of the training and data analysis model that made Visma the great reference of modern cycling. Now that knowledge lands in the great Red Bull project around Evenepoel, in a move that inevitably adds even more interest to the future battle between the Belgian, Pogačar, and Vingegaard himself in the grand tours.
