Evenepoel loses the coach who was supposed to bring him closer to Pogačar
The performance structure of Red Bull – BORA – hansgrohe is facing one of its most significant changes in the last decade. Dan Lorang will leave the team at the end of July, marking the end of a ten-year period in which he has been a key figure in the sports evolution of the German team and in building its current competitive level within the WorldTour.
Evenepoel forced to change coach
The 46-year-old Luxembourg coach was the first Performance Coach of the team since 2017, a role from which he directly contributed to the growth of the structure, placing it among the references of the international peloton. In recent months, he had also expanded his responsibilities within the Red Bull Athlete Performance Center, further integrating into the brand's global high-performance system.

From the team's management, Ralph Denk has valued his impact during this cycle, highlighting both his weight in the development of riders and his influence in consolidating the sports project. “As the team's first performance coach, Dan has played a key role since 2017 in our rise to the elite of the WorldTour and in the development of numerous riders,” he explained. The CEO also acknowledged that, although the departure represents a significant loss, he respects Lorang's decision to start a new chapter and emphasized that the relationship has always been based on transparency and mutual respect.

Lorang's departure comes at a particularly sensitive moment, coinciding with the new phase of the team following the incorporation of Remco Evenepoel as the cornerstone of its sports project. The coach had been one of those responsible for working on the evolution of the Belgian towards a more complete profile, capable of competing on equal terms with riders like Tadej Pogačar.
Despite the significance of his figure, the team has not yet communicated how it will reorganize its structure following Lorang's departure nor who will take direct responsibility for Evenepoel's preparation, a question that opens a new scenario within one of the most ambitious projects in the current peloton.
