The tenth edition of the 4Islands Epic has had clear dominators. The two teams dominated from start to finish the demanding stage race that crosses the islands of the Croatian Adriatic.
Uncontested victories in the 4Islands Epic 2025
After four stages where Monica Calderón - Tessa Kortekass and Hans Becking - Wout Alleman had won each day, the fifth and final day of the 4Islands Epic 2025 was contested over a route of 71 km and 1,500 m of elevation gain on the island of Krk. The victory was not as easy as the final result reflects. After a tight prologue of only 14 km and two initial stages in which Haw and Looser closed the gap, doubts arose. But everything changed on the third day, when Calderon and Kortekaas delivered a perfect stage and regained control of the general classification. From there, it was just a matter of finishing strong.
"In the first stages I didn't feel quite right and lost some confidence, but I knew that in the second halves of the stage races I always perform better", explained Calderon. "The last two stages were incredible. I felt strong and enjoyed this unique race very much. Croatia is spectacular".
The Buff Megamo takes the victory without giving their rivals a chance
In the men's category, Hans Becking and Wout Alleman did not give any respite. From the prologue to the final finish in Baška (island of Krk), the Buff Megamo Team leaders led firmly and also won all five stages. Their final advantage: 8 minutes and 56 seconds over the duo of KTM Spada Powered by Brenta Brakes 2 (Pettinà and Vantaggiato).
Not even a triple sprint on the penultimate day made the leaders of the yellow jersey CIOVITA falter. In the last stage, when they could have just controlled, they continued to attack and set the pace on the ascent to the chapel of San Kristofor, where they definitively broke the race.
"It has been a perfect week", summarized Alleman. "It's great to race again alongside Hans and win in a race like this, where anything can happen due to the technical terrain. We are very happy".
