The lineup of cyclists who will start the Amstel Gold Race next Sunday is simply luxurious but, as always when Tadej Pogacar is in a race, the label of top favorite for victory can only fall on him. In addition to the state of grace that Tadej Pogacar has been showing, it turns out that for this race he is presented with a team of true luxury with cyclists like McNulty, Narvaez, Novak, or Pavel Sivakov, quite something.

In a second tier, we would have to place equally a Tom Pidcock who has been having a fantastic season and, let's not forget, is the defending champion of this race. On the other hand, even if only for his level as a cyclist, and waiting to see how he returns after his injury, Remco Evenepoel is sure to arrive ready to make a statement.

We also find among those starting a Wout van Aert who does not seem to have his ideal terrain in the Ardennes but the Belgian has already shown in the past that he can be at the front in these races besides that his preparation seems to be focused on the Giro d'Italia so his form should continue to grow after the week of the cobbles.

Judging by the form he showed last week during the Itzulia, it is not unlikely that he could surprise everyone with a completely crazy move that means the rest won't see him again until the finish line.

The Cauberg returns as the decisive climb of the Amstel Gold Race. After several years in which the mythical ascent had been relegated to a secondary role in the race with a final circuit that bypassed it, the organization of the race has returned to the configuration we saw between 2013 and 2017 with the top of this wall just two kilometers from the finish line. A climb integrated into a final circuit that will be covered twice so the cyclists will also have to overcome this wall 20 kilometers from the finish.

It will be the culmination of a 256-kilometer route covering every corner of the Limburg province in a crazy route among the hills of the south of the Netherlands. A maze of a route with points where the race passes up to 4 times between constant ups and downs.

Before the final circuit, we find another key point in the ascent to Keutenberg which in this edition is climbed later in the race, specifically at kilometer 225, as a prelude to the arrival at the mentioned loop, so it could be the point where the race breaks due to the tremendous demand of this climb.
