The Alpecin–Premier Tech team is confirmed: Mathieu van der Poel's team debuts a new name and seals a long-term agreement until 2028
Just a few hours after we analyzed the scenario left by the renewal of Alpecin and the departure of Deceuninck, the mystery has been solved: Premier Tech will be the new co-main sponsor of Mathieu van der Poel's team starting in 2026.
Alpecin–Premier Tech: Van der Poel's team begins a new era
The announcement, made this Friday in Antwerp, ends weeks of rumors and confirms a strategic move that redefines the identity of one of the most powerful structures in the WorldTour.
As we anticipated, the void left by Deceuninck was not going to last long. Today it is official, the men's team will be called Alpecin–Premier Tech, while the women's team will adopt the name Fenix–Premier Tech.
Premier Tech, which left Israel-Premier Tech in the fall after deeming it "unsustainable" to continue its association with the team amid the outbreak of protests over the conflict in Gaza, now reappears in a much more stable and less controversial project.

The commitment signed with the Roodhooft brothers' structure will be for three years, until 2028, with the option to extend it for another three additional years. In parallel, Alpecin confirmed yesterday that it would extend its support for two more seasons, with an option for a third, ensuring continuity and budgetary solidity.
This double alliance reinforces a model that has been built since 2020 and has accompanied the team in its rise to the WorldTour and in the media and sporting explosion of Van der Poel.
Deceuninck stays... but in the second row
Although it leaves the naming of the team, Deceuninck does not disappear completely. The Belgian company will continue to appear as a secondary sponsor, maintaining a relationship that has been key in some of the team's greatest recent successes.
The structure thus returns to rely on a solid core of brands, including Zwift and Canyon, which remain linked in the long term.
The Alpecin–Premier Tech introduces a new signing with Hugo Houle
The announcement did not come alone. The Roodhoofts also confirmed the arrival of Canadian Hugo Houle, stage winner at the Tour de France, who will strengthen the 2026 roster. So far, the team only had 19 cyclists confirmed for the upcoming season.
The rest of the project will continue to revolve around its major pillars:
- Mathieu van der Poel, the absolute star and one of the most media-savvy athletes in the peloton.
- Jasper Philipsen, one of the best sprinters in the world.
- Kaden Groves, one of the most complete sprinters on the circuit.
- Tibor Del Grosso, the great promise emerging from the team's internal development.
With this confirmation, the Belgian structure definitively closes an uncertain chapter and opens another clearly ambitious one.
The arrival of Premier Tech not only fills the economic gap but also strengthens the international projection of the brand and provides access to a sponsor accustomed to large-scale projects.
For Van der Poel, who is going through one of the most important moments of his career, the rebranded Alpecin–Premier Tech will offer an even more stable environment to face a 2026 filled with goals in road cycling, cyclocross, and mountain biking.
