Nino Schurter bids farewell in Lenzerheide as the greatest of all time
Throughout more than two decades of professional career, always loyal to the SCOTT-SRAM team and under the guidance of Thomas Frischknecht, Schurter has won practically everything: 36 World Cup victories, 10 World Champion titles, 9 overall World Cup titles, an Olympic gold, and two other Olympic medals. All of this has turned him into a legend across different generations of the SCOTT Spark, a bike that has evolved at the same pace as his career and will forever be associated with his name.

The Swiss rider took the start this Sunday with the serenity of someone who knows they are writing the last page of an era. Without the pressure of fighting for top positions, he rode solidly within the top-20 until the last lap. Then, he changed gears, stopped competing to fully engage with his people. Arms raised, greetings, handshakes, and constant smiles marked a victory lap that seemed like a true tribute in life. Finally, he crossed the finish line in Lenzerheide with a huge smile, in the same place where he conquered one of his most remembered world titles.
“Nino and I share the love for mountain biking. Thanks to him, I have been able to stay connected to this sport for 23 more years”, acknowledged Frischknecht, visibly emotional. From the SCOTT brand itself, co-CEO Pascal Ducrot emphasized the dimension of his figure: “Nino is not only the greatest success in SCOTT's history, he also transformed mountain biking into a global spectacle. His legacy is showing the world what happens when passion is combined with discipline”.
To celebrate his career, SCOTT-SRAM has released a short film titled Thank You, Nino, featuring testimonials from MTB stars and narrated by Frischknecht.
The farewell in Lenzerheide confirms what the statistics and collective memory had already proclaimed: Nino Schurter as the GOAT (Greatest Of All Time) of mountain biking. With his charisma, dedication, and ability to reinvent himself, he not only accumulated titles, but also redefined the sport in style, equipment, circuits, and training methods.
