Road 07/10/25 16:53 Migue A.

Yesterday afternoon, Tadej Pogacar confirmed his presence at Tre Valli Varesine, one of the Italian classics at the end of the season that serve as an approach to Il Lombardia. He did so to fulfill the promise he made to the organizer to be present at the start of this edition after the cancellation of the 2024 edition due to heavy rains. As always, for Pogacar, it is not enough to save or think about the next Saturday's race, the only thing that matters is winning.

Pogacar takes no prisoners at Tre Valli Varesine. Another exhibition by the Slovenian before Il Lombardia

As a prelude to the dispute of Il Lombardia, today we had Tre Valli Varesine, one of the Italian classics that adorn the calendar at the end of the year and serve as preparation for the last of the monuments. A date with the Varesina race that had a participation of true luxury with the cherry on top being the presence of Tadej Pogacar. Not bad for a category 1.Pro race, especially being located so close to such an important event as Il Lombardia.

A 200-kilometer route through a course with several circuits always covered with small, short, and tough ascents, typical of Italian towns. Perfect terrain for the show as always eager Egan Bernal tried to provide, who, 80 km from the finish, attacked and went after Lorenzo Milesi, the last survivor of the day's breakaway.

Quinn Simmons joined them 44 km from the finish, also trying to anticipate the expected move by the cyclists of UAE Team Emirates-XRG, who controlled the race in a completely smooth manner.

And, as expected, the attack came from Isaac del Toro, forming a small group with Afonzo Eulalio, Victor Lafay, and, of course, Tadej Pocagar. A group that would not stay together for too long since, on one of the descents, the Slovenian stood out purely by technique and when he looked back, he saw the small gap to decide that, 21 kilometers from the finish, it was time to not stop. Once again, the race was over. The advantage increased to around a minute, which the UAE cyclist controlled effortlessly.

Only Tom Pidcock tried to attack from the peloton in his pursuit, causing a select cut with men like Isaac del Toro, Toms Skujins, or Primoz Roglic, but without the option of catching the Slovenian cyclist. In fact, they were even caught by the main peloton again.

A Tadej Pogacaar who completed his participation in Tre Valli Varesine with another victory that brings UAE Team Emirates-XRG closer to achieving the ambitious goal of 100 victories in a season that they had set for themselves.

The rest of the podium places were fought among the members of the peloton in a sprint where the fastest was the very young Danish rider from Lidl-Trek, Albert Withen Philipsen, who narrowly beat Julian Alaphilippe, who had to settle for third place.
