The cleaning of jerry cans is something that cyclists often do not pay enough attention to and that, on many occasions, end up being a source of stomach problems. To ensure perfect sterilization, Elite has created its Neto system that will allow us to use our water bottles almost as if they were new every time we ride a bike.

Ensure the perfect cleaning of your water bottles with the Elite Neto kit

Stomach discomfort is one of the problems that cyclists suffer most often and, on many occasions, the cause is not what we have eaten or that new brand of gels we have bought but water bottles that we usually do not pay enough attention to and that end up being breeding grounds for bacteria and other microorganisms that can knock us out.

In fact, in cycling teams, water bottles are a single-use consumable that they spend huge amounts of throughout the year. We should talk about the sustainability of this on an ecological level on another occasion. However, the common cyclist often uses the same water bottles on many occasions. Bottles that are usually washed, in better or worse ways, with the rest of the dishes but that are often forgotten on the bike until the next outing with traces of moisture.

This moisture is the perfect breeding ground for the proliferation of bacteria and other microorganisms that can cause us anything from discomfort to illness, from a mere gastroenteritis to more serious infections such as those caused by Salmonella. If we are mountain or gravel cyclists, imagine what the mouthpiece of the bottle can harbor on a muddy day, especially if we have cycled through livestock areas.

To ensure that our bottle is perfectly disinfected before each outing, Elite has created the Neto system. It consists of a tilted container in which we insert the cap and mouthpiece of the bottle while the body of it is screwed into the opening of the Neto and acts as a cap. At the bottom is a grid and a bottom that we must fill with water.

With all the parts of the bottle placed in this Elite Neto, we just have to close it and introduce the set for 1 minute in the microwave at 700 W of power. The Neto becomes a kind of homemade autoclave that uses steam for disinfection, ensuring, according to Elite data, that it eliminates 99.9% of molds and bacteria while leaving the bottle ready to use on our next route.

The inclined shape helps the moisture flow from the bottle to the bottom of the Neto and is capable of accommodating standard size bottles up to 750 ml. Without a doubt, an interesting innovation that will save us from many discomforts that can sometimes frustrate a day of cycling.
