SRAM officially announces the arrival of the ultra-short 150 mm crankarms that Jonas Vingegaard was already using
The debate about crank length has been ongoing in the peloton for some time, but in recent years it has gained evident prominence. More and more professionals have been shortening millimeters in search of a more efficient and comfortable position, and now SRAM takes a definitive step by bringing this trend to the commercial catalog.
SRAM releases 150 mm cranks that Jonas Vingegaard was already using
The American brand has announced the availability of new SRAM Red AXS cranks in lengths of 150 and 155 mm, the same measurements that had already been seen in competition under the pedals of Jonas Vingegaard. Until now, these extreme lengths were practically reserved for the WorldTour or very specific setups.
The use of shorter cranks is not exclusive to the Danish rider. In the current peloton, it has almost become the norm to see lengths of 165 mm or even less in riders like Wout van Aert or Tadej Poga?ar, which has accelerated brands' interest in offering more options to the end user.

SRAM argues that these new lengths improve pedaling efficiency and increase comfort, especially in very aggressive positions or with tighter hip angles, without losing performance. The Red range now offers a complete spectrum from 150 to 175 mm, compatible with both conventional chainrings and power meter configurations. The announced price for the new cranks is set at 450 euros.
New features also for time trial and triathlon
The presentation was not limited to cranks. SRAM has taken the opportunity to renew its offering of hydraulic brakes for time trial and triathlon bikes with new Aero Disc Brake sets in three levels: Red, Force, and Rival.
Until now, the brand only had a high-end hydraulic option for this segment. With this update, it expands the range with more accessible solutions, maintaining the same lever architecture and varying finishes and calipers according to the range. Prices start from 230 euros for Rival, going up to 275 euros for Force, and 322 euros for Red per side.

On the practical side, SRAM updates the AXS battery charger, which finally adopts the USB-C standard. The brand eliminates the included cable in the box as a measure to reduce waste, assuming that most users already have this type of cable at home.
