SRAM heats up the launch of a new product
SRAM has launched a countdown that currently shows 33 days and points to an important release in mid-February. The American brand has provided little concrete information, but the images and short video clips published on its website suggest a possible new downhill group with wireless AXS transmission.
SRAM activates the countdown and points to a new AXS downhill group
The clues are not new for those closely following elite downhill. Throughout the 2025 season, prototypes of rear derailleurs have been seen on the bikes of various official teams, always accompanied by total secrecy from the brand. Now, with the countdown already visible, everything indicates that the test material was hinting at SRAM's next big step in DH.

The published images show mud-covered UDH-type derailleurs and a clearly gravity-focused design, reinforcing the hypothesis of a completely wireless AXS DH. If confirmed, it would be the first electronic transmission specifically for downhill within the Transmission ecosystem, a logical move following the consolidation of AXS in XC, trail, and enduro.

However, SRAM could go further. Alongside the possible electronic group, the arrival of T-Type mechanical versions aimed at DH is not ruled out, following the strategy already seen with Eagle 70 and Eagle 90, where the brand has offered structural compatibility with the option to jump to AXS later.

One of the big questions is whether this new system will maintain the usual 7-speed cassette (10-24) in downhill or if SRAM will take advantage of the new standard to introduce changes in the gearing.
If there are no further updates from the brand, we will have answers in just over a month.
