Shimano says goodbye to cables with its new electronic group XTR M9200 Di2
Shimano has officially presented its new XTR M9200 Di2 group. The long-awaited electronic and wireless drivetrain for MTB from Shimano is finally here and promises to exceed all expectations. It is robust, precise, fast, and has everything necessary to compete with its rivals.
Shimano XTR M9200 Di2: this wireless electronic drivetrain for MTB has it all
Shimano has taken a significant step forward with the launch of the new XTR M9200 Di2 group for mountain biking. At the center of the presentation, along with new brakes and wheels, we find a completely wireless electronic transmission that many have been demanding for a long time. The group includes a completely new wireless rear derailleur and shifter, as well as new cassettes and a set of cranks.
New wireless rear derailleur with eMTB option
Designed to offer maximum precision and reliability in real competition conditions, Shimano ensures that the system has been designed to withstand the impacts of the terrain, improve ergonomics, and allow for a higher level of customization. The new rear derailleur is loaded with technology, but part of the robustness that Shimano boasts comes from its design.

Under the principle of 'You can't damage what you can't hit,' Shimano has designed the rear derailleur with a low-profile wedge shape to minimize exposure to rocks and roots, and the removable and rechargeable battery is integrated into the assembly for added protection.
As we have already seen in other models from the competition, the derailleur features an automatic recovery function that returns the derailleur to its original position after an impact. The pulleys have been reinforced, and the improved chain tension provides greater durability and retention.
Features of the rear derailleur
- Low-profile design - SHIMANO SHADOW ES technology offers a wedge-shaped design that reduces the front surface area of the derailleur and eliminates edges that could hit rocks and roots.
- Automatic impact recovery function: in case of impact, the derailleur absorbs the impact and then returns to its position
- Robust design
- New chain stabilization technology - The dual-spring design creates greater chain tension for better wrapping and retention of the chain.
- Battery protection - Integrated as part of the rear derailleur body, the sealed battery is immovable while riding, even on the roughest terrain, but can still be easily removed for charging.
- E-MTB rear derailleur option - The E-MTB RD-M9260 includes a cable to connect directly to the electric bike's battery. It also uses FREE SHIFT technology for shifting without pedaling and AUTO SHIFT for smooth and automatic gear changes while pedaling.

- Precise wireless shifting
- Tactile feedback with each press
- Multiple shift modes, including holding down for multiple shifts, double-click shifting, or locked single shift

Crankset and cassette
The group is completed with the M9200 cassette for XC and two sets of cranks, for XC and Enduro/Trail.
The CS-M9200-12 cassette for 12v includes HYPERGLIDE+ technology for smooth shifts under load, is compatible with MICRO SPLINE hubs, and is available in options: 9-45T and 10-51T.
The new XTR M9200 crankset is presented as more resistant and reliable in two options, one optimized for weight savings and the other for greater durability. Both include Shimano's proven HOLLOWTECH II technology that achieves a new balance of stiffness and weight.
