SHIMANO presents the new DEORE XT M8200 Di2: wireless technology and all-terrain reliability
Shimano has announced the launch of the new DEORE XT M8200 Di2 group, thus expanding its range of wireless components for MTB. This group comes to democratize the technology seen in the XTR, combining fully wireless Di2 electronic shifting, a robust transmission construction, advanced ergonomics, and powerful brakes, all taken from competition and adapted to the demands of real mountain biking, whether on trail, enduro, or XC.
From the 80s revolution to the latest generation wireless shifting
Since its appearance in the 80s as a pioneering group, DEORE XT has been synonymous with mountain performance. Today, with the introduction of the M8200 Di2, SHIMANO transfers much of the accumulated knowledge with the XTR M9200 to offer a durable, precise, and more accessible group.
The new DEORE XT M8200 incorporates a fully wireless Di2 platform, a robust design that withstands the impacts typical of disciplines like trail riding, natural ergonomics, and brakes with predictable and modulable touch, even in extreme conditions. All this with a flexible and customizable range of components.

Inspired by the XTR M9250 derailleur, the M8250 Di2 incorporates the new SHIMANO SHADOW ES technology, featuring a low-profile wedge design. This minimizes the exposed surface and eliminates edges that could catch on obstacles, improving durability and impact protection.
Additionally, thanks to its automatic recovery function in case of impacts, the derailleur absorbs the blow and returns to its original position without the cyclist's intervention. This is complemented by a new reinforced aluminum cage, replacing the carbon one from the XTR without compromising performance.
Technical features of the RD-M8250
- SHIMANO SHADOW ES Technology
- Precise wireless shifting
- Robust structure with protective plate
- Solid pulleys and alloy cage
- Rechargeable and removable battery
- Versions: SGS (long cage) for 10-51T cassettes and GS (medium cage) for 9-45T cassettes
Option for e-MTB: RD-M8260 with FREE SHIFT and AUTO SHIFT
The cable version for electric bikes, RD-M8260, is powered directly from the e-bike battery and allows you to enjoy the FREE SHIFT (shifting without pedaling) and AUTO SHIFT (automatic shifting during pedaling) functions.
Versions:
- 12V RD-M826012 for HYPERGLIDE+
- 11V RD-M826011L for LINKGLIDE
Cassette CS-M8200-12: resistance and smoothness under load
Available in two developments (9-45T and 10-51T), the new 12-speed cassette with HYPERGLIDE+ technology offers smooth shifting performance even under load. It uses a MICRO SPLINE core body and combines large alloy sprockets with small forged steel sprockets to optimize durability and weight.
FC-M8200 Cranks: stiffness, lightness, and compatibility
The new XT crankset presents the ideal balance between stiffness and weight. It inherits the design of the XTR M9200 and uses HOLLOWTECH II construction, a 24mm steel axle, 55mm chain line, and 176mm Q-Factor.
Available options:
- Length: 160 / 165 / 170 / 175 mm
- Chainrings: from 28 to 36 teeth (Direct Mount)
Di2 SW-M8250-R / IR Shifters: more touch, more adjustments, more options
The new RAPID ES electronic shifters offer a tactile experience similar to mechanical shifting, but with all the advantages of the wireless system. The buttons are programmable, with multiple shifting modes (long press or double click) and an extra button to control other functions such as the cycle computer or FREE/AUTO SHIFT technologies through the E-TUBE app.
They are offered in two types of mounting, with the traditional independent clamp, or for attachment to the brake lever
Brakes: power and control in any circumstance
The M8200 group offers several braking options with a single type of BL-M8220 lever, with ERGO FLOW technology and a redesigned SERVOWAVE system for increased sensitivity complemented by the new low viscosity mineral oil.
Features of the BL-M8220 lever
- ERGO FLOW Technology
- Progressive SERVOWAVE
- Low viscosity mineral oil
- New reach adjustment dial
- Compatible with I-SPEC EV
Available calipers:
