The Cape Epic 2024 is at the halfway point of the race and the Schurter-Fini pair are directly fighting for the final victory. For the occasion, the 10-time world champion is racing with a special edition of his SCOTT Spark RC and he tells you all about it in this video.

A detailed look at the SCOTT Spark, with Flight Attendant and all the necessary tools and spare parts, special edition for Absa Cape Epic 2024

The Cape Epic is considered the Tour de France of mountain biking, and although Nino Schurter has already won it before, he and his team have also seen that in this race you can go from glory to drama in a matter of kilometers. This is what makes this race unique.

Special edition with Nino Schurter's signature, it's interesting that for a race like this, where following the correct route is crucial, he chooses the simple and light Garmin 130 Plus

N1NO debuted a special edition of the SCOTT Spark RC customized for the occasion in South Africa. Its unique design, matching Sebastian Fini's Lapierre, is inspired by the South African national colors and the configuration has been specifically chosen for this race. It will also be the first time we see it in competition with the new Flight Attendant suspensions once they are released.

This edition Nino will race for World Bicycle Relief

It surprised us all when Nino Schurter decided for the first time to team up with a rider who is not from his team, this time he will race with Sebastian Fini from Lapierre Mavic Unity, but it will be for a greater cause. Both will compete for the NGO World Bicycle Relief, whose mission is to change people and societies with the power of the bicycle, a cause that Schurter has been supporting for years. Their logo and colors will be reflected on both the bikes and the gear of both riders.

"I have always believed that bicycles have the power to change people's lives, especially through the work done with World Bicycle Relief. It is an organization very close to my heart and I am very happy to support them in any way I can and continue to raise awareness about their important work in Africa and beyond." Schurter said a few days before starting this new edition of the Cape Epic.

The South African color pattern and the logos of World Bicycle Relief stand out on the carbon HMX of the Spark

As you know, during the long days of the Cape Epic, riders will not have external mechanical assistance, which marks a radical difference from World Cup races where Schurter has the invaluable and efficient help of Yanick, his trusted mechanic. That's why this is one of the few races where we see Nino Schurter's Spark loaded with the spare parts and tools that most of us usually carry on any ride.

Before seeing the final setup for the race, it's worth remembering that last year Nino used the race number to carry some small tools, like a knife, and it's important to note that when racing in pairs, tools and spare parts are usually divided to carry duplicates.

Behind the RockShox Reverb dropper post, a Topeak Elemental Pack bag is mounted, usually carrying spare Tubolito tubes inside, with a CO2 cartridge on the outside
The double water bottle becomes essential in a stage race and in fact was one of the novelties that SCOTT included in their new Spark at the request of their customers
The integrated design of the shock absorber, under that cover and inside the frame, is an advantage in these tough races where this component is constantly exposed to extreme conditions of dust, water, and mud
The Spark features the complete SRAM XX SL EAGLE Transmission AXS groupset with Syncros Silverton 1.0s carbon wheels and the new ROCKSHOX Flight Attendant XC suspensions
