Schwalbe unveils its first 32-inch gravel tyres and teases what’s to come in this size

The 32-inch wheels continue to take steps to move beyond being just prototypes. Schwalbe has just announced its first 32” gravel tires intended for production, the G-One RS Pro and G-One RX Pro. The latter arrives on the market after Robin Gemperle used it to win the Unbound Gravel XL 2026.

Schwalbe presents its first 32-inch gravel tires

Schwalbe officially confirms its commitment to a diameter it has been experimenting with for months. The German brand will expand its gravel family with 32-inch versions of the G-One RS Pro and G-One RX Pro, which will be available in two widths, 50 and 55 mm.

These are the main specifications announced:

• Models: G-One RS Pro and G-One RX Pro
• Diameter: 32 inches
• Widths: 50 and 55 mm
• Availability: April 2027
• There will also be specific tubes for this size

Schwalbe places the launch in April of next year, although it assures that the first 32” gravel bikes intended for the market will start appearing as early as the fall of 2026.

The 32” G-One RX Pro already knows what it’s like to win at Unbound

In fact, one of these tires has been rolling at the highest level for months. The 32” G-One RX Pro has behind it one of the most compelling arguments that Schwalbe could achieve before launching it to the market: a victory at Unbound.

As we reported before the race, SCOTT brought its spectacular RC Gravel 32 Prototype to Kansas, a bike specifically developed around this diameter. Both Cameron Jones and Robin Gemperle participated in the project, and their bikes used 32-inch and 50 mm wide Schwalbe RX tires. 

The experiment ended up achieving a result that is hard to overlook. Gemperle won the Unbound Gravel XL 2026, a 350-mile —563 kilometers— race held under particularly tough conditions. His SCOTT RC Gravel 32 was precisely equipped with the prototypes of the tires that Schwalbe now identifies as 32-inch G-One RX Pro. The brand itself uses that victory as one of the references for the development of its new size.

Gemperle completed that Unbound XL in 21 hours and 20 minutes, giving 32” wheels their first major international victory in gravel. 

From initial doubts to betting on 32”

The interesting thing is that Schwalbe acknowledges that it was initially not convinced that the market needed another wheel size.

Felix Schäfermeier, head of Product Management at Schwalbe, explains that the tests ended up changing that perception. According to the brand, cyclists can appreciate differences with the 32” wheels and particularly highlight a more stable ride, greater traction, and more comfort in gravel.

The approach fits precisely with what SCOTT was looking for when developing its RC Gravel 32 for Unbound. A larger diameter wheel has to face significant compromises in geometry, weight, and handling, but it also seeks to improve performance on rough terrain and allow for maintaining speed more easily. Schwalbe seems to consider that these advantages ultimately justify having a specific range.

And after gravel, MTB will arrive

The announcement doesn’t stop at the G-Ones. Schwalbe has confirmed that starting in April 2027, it will also offer several 32-inch MTB tires, although it has not yet revealed models, widths, or characteristics.
