Savilia Blunk and Joshua Dubau win in Brazil "the preview" of the Mairipora XCO World Cup
In just a few days, the UCI XCC/XCO Mountain Bike World Cup 2024 kicks off with the Brazilian test in Mairipora, but this weekend a pre-race has already been held on the circuit with many of the protagonists we will see shine next weekend. Savilia Blunk in the women's category and Joshua Dubau in the men's category have taken the victory.
The MTB Festival serves as a rehearsal for the UCI XCC/XCO World Cup 2024
Although at the elite level there were still cyclists and teams missing who will compete in the World Cup, they will arrive in Mairipora this same week. The truth is that the level was already very high and both the organization and the riders themselves have used it as a dress rehearsal.
On the same World Cup circuit and under the hot and humid conditions that many cyclists have decided to arrive in Brazil at least a week before to acclimatize, this Sunday the Elite XCO races of the Brazilian MTB-Festival, a UCI C1 category event, were held. Two races of a high level that could give us clues about what we will see next weekend.
The women's race was decided on the finish line in a sprint between the Americans Savilia Blunk (Decathlon Ford Racing Team) and Haley Batten (Specialized Factory Racing). Finally, the victory went to Blunk, who was surrounded on the podium by names like Jenny Rissveds (Team 31 Ibis), Greta Seiwald (Decathlon Ford Racing Team), and Chiara Teocchi (Orbea Factory Team) in third, fourth, and fifth place respectively.

The men's race was decided a little earlier with a lightning attack from the Frenchman Joshua Dubau (Decathlon Ford Racing Team) who took the victory ahead of Filippo Colombo (SCOTT SRAM) and Mathias Fluckiger (Thomus Maxon). The under-23 world champion Adrien Boichis (Trinity Racing) and Maxime Marotte (Decathlon Ford Racing Team) closed the podium in fourth and fifth position respectively.
After this test, everything is ready for the start of the XCO World Cup 2024 next weekend.
