RockShox urges riders to stop using and remove certain 2027 ZEB forks after discovering a potential defect
RockShox has issued a safety alert affecting certain latest generation ZEB forks. The company has requested that any affected units be immediately discontinued from use and has halted their sale and distribution due to a potential defect that could cause a sudden loss of pressure in the suspension.
RockShox ZEB 2027: which models and serial numbers are affected
The warning has been communicated through an official SRAM bulletin sent to its distributors, which Pinkbike has accessed. It identifies four models of the new generation:
- RockShox ZEB Ultimate
- RockShox ZEB Ultimate Flight Attendant
- RockShox ZEB Select+
- RockShox ZEB Select
The alert includes forks whose serial numbers are within the range 07T6XXXXXXXX to 42T6XXXXXXXX, corresponding to units manufactured between weeks 7 and 42 of 2026.
The serial number is located on the back of the fork crown and can be checked without removing it from the bike.

The issue affects versions equipped with the new Linear XL air chamber, introduced in April 2026. The basic ZEB, which retains the chassis of the previous generation, is not among the flagged products. The 2027 Lyrik models are also not included.
Both families hit the market this season with significant changes in operation and architecture; you can see their technology in detail in our presentation of the new RockShox Lyrik and ZEB 2027.
A defect in the stanchions could cause sudden loss of pressure
The origin of the warning lies in a possible dimensional defect in one of the fork stanchions, which may be outside the manufacturing tolerances set by RockShox.
As SRAM explains in its technical bulletin, certain impacts capable of causing a sudden extension of the suspension could displace the retaining ring of the air assembly. If this occurs, the fork may suddenly lose air pressure and, with it, its suspension capability.
The potential severity of this issue has led the manufacturer to act preventively while continuing to investigate its scope.
In a statement provided to Pinkbike, RockShox confirms that it is evaluating the possible problem and recommends discontinuing the use of affected units. The company also assures that it is working to communicate the measures that need to be taken as soon as possible.
SRAM also halts the sale of forks, complete bicycles, and spare parts
The measure goes beyond a warning directed at users. The official bulletin orders distributors to stop the sale, shipping, and assembly of bicycles that incorporate the affected products.
This includes both complete forks and new bicycles that already have them installed. SRAM requests that all implicated units remaining in distributors' warehouses be immobilized until further instructions are received.
The restriction also affects certain spare parts manufactured between weeks 7 and 42 of 2026, specifically CSU assemblies —crown, steerer tube, and stanchions— and sealhead assemblies of the air chamber.
As reported by the German media MTB-News, there is still no technical solution communicated to distributors. SRAM has expressly asked them not to carry out maintenance or repair interventions on the affected forks until further instructions are received.
What owners should do
The recommendation for any owner of a ZEB 2027 is to first check the serial number. If it corresponds to one of the four identified models and is within the indicated range, the fork must be discontinued from use immediately, even if it has not shown any symptoms of abnormal operation.

The SRAM warning does not establish geographical limitations. However, the territorial scope of a potential recall campaign has not yet been officially confirmed.
As of October 31, 2026, the incident is also not published on the official SRAM alerts and recalls page, although the manufacturer has distributed the safety bulletin through its professional channels.
For now, no repair, replacement, or return procedure has been announced, nor is the total number of affected forks known.
RockShox assures that if any intervention is necessary, it will work directly with the affected owners to resolve the issue as soon as possible and at no cost to them.
Until new instructions are published, the recommendation remains not to use the flagged units and to contact an authorized distributor to learn about the manufacturer's upcoming measures.
