Reversible and ultra-lightweight, this is the new Race Face Era SL handlebar
Race Face expands its new Era SL range with a key component for the evolution of modern MTB: a handlebar designed for that hybrid terrain between XC and Trail where climbing efficiency and descending control must coexist. The new Era SL handlebar focuses on versatility and fatigue reduction as its main design axes.
Race Face Era SL: an "invertible" handlebar to adjust position in seconds
Following the Era SL cranks we saw a few weeks ago, Race Face completes this handlebar as part of a family of components oriented towards the "downcountry" concept that the brand interprets more as a way of riding than as a closed category.

The most distinctive element of the Race Face Era SL is its reversible design. This allows the handlebar to be mounted in two different positions, offering +6 mm or -6 mm of rise, making it easier to adjust the rider's posture without the need to change components.

This system aims to adapt to both modern geometries and personal preferences, allowing fine-tuning of the position to prioritize efficiency or control depending on the terrain or riding style. Additionally, it maintains key angles constant in both positions: 8° setback and 5° upward tilt.
For this handlebar, Race Face introduces its Goldilocks (GL) construction, which seeks a balance between stiffness and absorption. The goal is to reduce fatigue on long rides or demanding descents without compromising control. An approach that fits with the intended use of the handlebar, clearly aimed at modern XC, light trail, downcountry bikes (up to 140 mm of travel), and even e-bikes within that travel range.

The Era SL stands out as one of the lightest handlebars in its 35 mm diameter category, with a claimed weight of 170 grams, a very competitive figure considering its versatile focus.

Beyond the numbers, the Era SL reflects the clear trend of offering adaptable solutions without complicating installation. The ability to vary the "rise" simply by rotating the handlebar introduces a quick and practical adjustment that can make a difference in sensations on the bike.
Race Face presents it as a way to "soften the cockpit" and improve the experience on all types of rides, from long routes to more aggressive sessions on technical trails.
