Race Face Era SL: ultra-lightweight carbon cranks designed for XC and downcountry
Race Face expands its catalog with the new Era SL, an even lighter version of its well-known Era carbon cranks. The goal of this new model is to minimize weight without compromising the durability needed for intensive use in modern XC and downcountry setups, where lightness and efficiency remain priorities.

Race Face launches the Era SL, carbon cranks weighing 422 g with a lifetime warranty
The main novelty is the optimization of the original Era design to reduce grams in multiple areas of the set. Race Face has revised the carbon construction and simplified some elements to achieve a lighter set while maintaining the structural strength that characterizes this family of cranks.
The result of this evolution is a crankset that weighs 422 grams on the scale in a configuration with 170 mm cranks and a 32-tooth chainring, which is 61 grams less than the original Era model. To achieve this, the Canadian brand has introduced an integrated 7000 series aluminum axle, eliminating some components from the system and reducing weight in the set.

Another characteristic detail of these cranks is the stainless steel protection plate located in the contact area with the shoe. This element was already present in the Era and serves to prevent wear caused by shoe friction, although in this version it has been resized to save some additional grams without losing its protective function.
The Era SL is made with carbon fiber and a design aimed at minimizing material where it is not necessary, allowing for weight reduction without affecting long-term durability. Race Face also maintains its lifetime warranty, which even includes damage from falls.

Regarding compatibility and fit, the model is offered in four crank lengths: 160, 165, 170, and 175 mm, allowing it to adapt to different pedaling preferences, from those who prioritize high cadences to those seeking maximum leverage to generate power.

The new Race Face Era SL is available in three finishes: Silver, Kashmoney (a gold tone inspired by Fox Factory components), and Stealth (black). The announced price is $576.99, while the official price in euros has not yet been communicated.
