Stigger wins the Short Track of Mont Sainte Anne and Pieterse takes the overall of the XCC 2023 World Cup
Stigger wins the Mont Sainte Anne Short Track and proves she is at her best moment of the season. The Austrian replicated Batten's move and showed off at the end to taste victory as she crossed the finish line alone. Pieterse was fifth but won the overall XCC World Cup classification.

Berta had the strongest pedal stroke at the start and it was enough for her to become the first leader of the race. Gibson, Richards, Teocchi, Neff, Keller and Pieterse were immediately behind the Italian. Passing the finish line and Keller ahead. Just two and a half minutes into the race and the pace had already taken its toll, splitting the peloton into several groups.
Henderson in front, followed by Keller and Pieterse who, although she already won the overall XCO World Cup last weekend in Snowshoe, the Dutchwoman was the favorite to also win the Short Track World Cup classification.

The leading group consisted of fourteen riders. The compact formation rode the next few kilometers with applied uniformity. Batten at the front to open up the lead at a time when it seemed that everyone agreed that there were still too many laps to go on the offensive.
The riders reached the halfway point of the race in a heartbeat. The lead baton then passed to Henderson, while Batten, Berta and Lecomte stuck in her wake. The lead group was now down to ten riders, with Frei as the red lantern.
Another pass through the finish line. Pieterse tightened her quads to recover some positions, although she could not overtake Lecomte, now leader.
The clock was still counting down the seconds but the tie remained. Now it was. Batten's move as he crossed the finish line for the seventh time. The change of pace paid off, as only Henderson and Lecomte were able to respond effectively.
The American, who had been the executing leg of the plan that had definitively dissolved the leading group, gave up all the advantage when she let go of the pedal. Even so, Stigger joined the leading pair to form a trio from which the winner was likely to emerge.
Stigger revealed her full potential and in a few corners managed to pull away from Henderson and Lecomte, who would not ride with the Austrian again. With no unexpected surprises, Stigger pedaled to the finish line to raise her arms to the Canadian sky and sign the victory in the Short Track of Mont Sainte Anne.
For her part, Pieterse once again focused much of the spotlight by becoming the overall winner of the 2023 Short Track World Cup. A success that adds to the title of the XCO World Cup 2023. The Dutchwoman is already a reality and achieves the feat of the double at only 21 years of age.
