The first 1x13 group from SRAM: this is the RED XPLR AXS for gravel
It was an open secret and SRAM has just officially presented it. Their new SRAM RED XPLR AXS group for gravel is the brand's first 1X13 transmission and to develop it they have combined all their experience and technology in road and MTB.
New 1x13 transmission SRAM RED XPLR AXS for gravel
A few months ago this group was already seen on some of the bikes that competed in the past Unbound Gravel and finally we have all the information about it.
The SRAM RED XPLR AXS 1x13 is the latest from SRAM for gravel, although it combines MTB technology, such as direct mounting to the frame or components from the also recently presented SRAM RED AXS for road, such as shifters, brakes or the chain itself.

New Specialized Chisel, an Epic 8 in aluminum?
SRAM ensures that the RED XPLR AXS has been designed to offer cyclists the perfect combination of precision and durability. Its 13-speed 10-46D ratio guarantees perfect development in any situation with precise shifting and tight jumps. Much of that precision is due to the Full Mount derailleur, directly anchored to frames with the UDH system, dispensing with the derailleur hanger.
Also, like its counterpart on the road, since they are the same brakes, the new RED XPLR AXS offers the possibility of braking with just one finger and a significant weight reduction.
Here are the components of the group, one by one.
RED XPLR AXS Rear Derailleur
The RED XPLR AXS rear derailleur has been designed to withstand everything, from any impact with rocks, falls or, why not, plane transfers. The Full Mount design without a hanger is compatible with UDH frames and ensures to offer the most robust and reliable gravel transmission possible. Without adjustment screws, installation is easier than ever, and the Magic Wheel keeps the chain moving, even if debris enters the lower pulley.
- Single plate specific for use with 10-46T XPLR 13-speed cassette and road Flattop chains
- Hangerless interface and Full Mount attachment allow for the most precise gear changes and maximum impact resistance
- Requires frame with UDH interface
- Simple configuration without adjustment screws
- Superior chain management with MTB-inspired clutch
- Replaceable parts
- Magic Wheel keeps the chain moving, even if debris enters the lower pulley
- Compatible with existing AXS batteries
