Scratch EVA the first Prologo’s ergonomic saddle for women

The components brand Prologo has just presented its Scratch EVA saddle, an ergonomic model specific to the anatomy of the female body that has been developed in collaboration with the best UCI World Tour and continental women's teams.

New Prologo Scratch EVA saddle specific for women

In the Prologo catalog we can find a wide range of unisex saddles suitable for women and men, but the attention to the needs of professional and amateur female cyclists have pushed the brand to create a new model of ergonomic saddle more specific for women.

After an initial research and development process, Prologo began testing the first prototypes in 2021 with the support of the professional women's teams in which the brand is a technical sponsor, and with the direct support of Marta Cavalli (FDJ SUEZ Futuroscope).

Marta's tests, first in training and then in the race, such as the victories in the Amstel Gold Race and Fleche Wallonne with one of these prototypes, helped to perfect this final model.

The new Prologo Scratch EVA is an ergonomic saddle with racing DNA made exclusively for women. Designed to seek the maximum performance of both the Word Tour champions and the most demanding cyclists even on long rides.

The anatomical shape of the new Scratch EVA is based on the Scratch M5 model and has been redesigned to better adapt to the female body by moving the "anatomical center" of the saddle 5 mm forward. This solution allows the seat to be moved forward, thus increasing the support surface of the female pelvis, which is wider than the male pelvis.

This model is even more comfortable, more compact (245 mm x 140 mm) and allows good freedom of movement for pedaling with maximum efficiency in all positions, from the most relaxed to the most aggressive.

The EVA denomination evokes the Italian name of the first woman, but also comes from the material of the padding, which is made of EVA foams with variable density according to the different areas of the saddle.

In the back, where the ischial bones rest, the padding is thicker and made from a high-density foam that can offer the most support. In contrast, in the middle and front, where the soft tissues rest, there is a thinner padding made from a low-density foam to minimize pressure peaks. This difference in thickness and density creates a channel in the center of the saddle, with a large, extremely soft bearing surface. 

The Scratch EVA also features Prologo's characteristic Active Base System: a base with a hole in the center, which further relieves pressure and thus increases comfort while pedaling.

Finally, the front end of the saddle has been widened by about 10mm and tilted downward to ensure a good support surface even in those situations, such as steep climbs, where it is necessary to pedal by sitting on the nose.

The Scratch EVA is available in multiple versions, the lightest version with carbon fiber Nack rails weighs 183g and the version with steel alloy TyroX rails weighs 232g.
