In recent times, the Princeton wheels that we have seen on INEOS Grenadiers bikes have become one of the most sought-after items for those looking for the best for their bike due to their exclusivity and features.

Princeton evolves its Wake 6560 to make them more aerodynamic and lighter

Princeton's flagship wheels reach their fifth version with the launch of the Wake 6560 Evolution II, wheels in which the brand has gone further and approached the achievement of speed from a global perspective that integrates both aerodynamic gains and improvements in rolling quality.

To achieve this, different tests have been very important, testing rim widths, tire widths, and methods to have maximum control over the shape that the tire adopts on the rims. This is why, while most brands opt for hookless or minihook for their rims, Princeton has chosen not only conventional hooks but has also reinforced them to achieve a firmer fixation of the tire that prevents any deformation that could alter both the aerodynamics and the rolling capacity.

Despite this aspect, the rims are even lighter, going from 470 to 420 g, which leaves the wheelset at an impressive 1,250 g. A remarkable figure considering we are talking about high-profile wheels. An aerodynamic profile that varies in height between 60 and 65 mm. Additionally, the rims are particularly resistant, managing to withstand impact tests of up to 120 joules, well above the 40 joules required by the UCI homologation test.

It has an internal width of 21 millimeters, a small figure considering that in recent models 25 mm has become the norm, and they are optimized to be used with 28 mm tires. In this way, they achieve the best aerodynamics, highlighting the expansion of their range of wind incidence angles so that they maintain their properties between +- 12.5°.

The rims also stand out for details such as having a hole-free rim bed for the spokes, making the use of sealing tape for tubeless unnecessary, or being balanced in their construction considering the weight of the valve. Additionally, as if that weren't enough, they are available in 10 color options to integrate as well as possible into your bike.

As it could not be otherwise, the price is in line with the level of construction they show, and although there is no European price on their website, the figure in the currency of origin ranges between $3,150 and $4,500, varying depending on the hub we choose for its assembly, which uses the renowned Sapim CX-Ray spokes.
