Pogacar's goals for 2024: Giro, Tour, Olympics and World Championship

After it was revealed that Tadej Pogacar will attempt the Giro and Tour double, the rest of the calendar that the UAE Team Emirates cyclist will face has been announced, setting his sights on all the major prizes of the 2024 season with the Paris Olympics and the Zurich World Championships as coveted pieces.

Just as we were still digesting the news that Tadej Pogacar will storm the Giro d'Italia next May, which will link up with the Tour de France in an attempt to achieve that double that has eluded the world's best cyclists since 1998, the rest of the races in which we will enjoy the spectacle that the Slovenian cyclist always offers us are revealed.

As we already advanced, in addition to these two grand tours, Pogacar has set his sights on the Paris Olympics, a race that takes place almost immediately after the Tour de France. From there, he should be able to take a very brief break to thoroughly prepare a very tough Road World Championship that this year is taking place in the Swiss city of Zurich, returning to its traditional dates at the end of September. Of course, after the world championship, he will seek to continue being the king of Il Lombardia as the last chapter of the season, a race he has won in the last three editions.

The question that remained with this calendar was to know when Tadej Pogacar would start his season which, remember, this year started very early, in February, with that beautiful victory that delighted us in Jaén Paraíso Interior. As expected, the Slovenian will pay less attention to spring and the classics with a much more selective calendar, more focused on achieving good preparation for the Giro d'Italia.

Again the sterrato will be the protagonist at the start of Tadej Pogacar's campaign, in this case, on the white roads of Tuscany with his participation in Strade Bianche on March 2. From there, he will link up with the dispute of the Tirreno-Adriatico as the first stage race to lead to his first goal of the year: Milan-San Remo, the first monument and one of the two that are missing from his account along with Paris-Roubaix. A race in which he has been close to victory and in which he has been the main animator of the last two editions but which is extremely difficult for a cyclist of his characteristics.

After Milan-San Remo and although his participation has not been officially confirmed or appears in the initially revealed calendar, some sources say that he would go to the Volta a Catalunya to conclude this first block of races.

During the month of April he will focus on specific preparation for the Giro d'Italia and we will not see him back in action until the Liege-Bastogne-Liege in which he will try to remove the thorn of the injury he suffered last year and which conditioned his preparation for the Tour de France.

As we said, a much more selective calendar in which again, Tadej Pogacar seeks to continue making history and increasing his record with races that he has not yet crossed off the list. Some because they resist him and others because they will see his first participation.
