POC Cytal and Cularis, the new helmets from the Swedish brand for road and mountain biking
Double arrival to the POC catalog with the incorporation of two new models, the first one, the Cytal model, an aerodynamic helmet for road cycling derived from the carbon homonymous helmet used by some cyclists of the EF Education-EasyPost team. The second one, the Cularis model, continues the tradition of POC helmets with a high-performance model focused on trail riding.
POC squeezes its knowledge to develop two new high-performance helmets for road and mountain
Despite having a tremendously spectacular range of helmets and completely current models with the best features on the market, with the creation of the Cytal and Cularis helmets, POC has challenged themselves with products in which they have focused more on real-world testing to refine every detail that can improve the performance of their helmets, whether in safety, ventilation, aerodynamics, or any other parameter.
First, we have the Cularis helmet, a model that maintains the general lines of the brand's trail helmets, offering wide coverage to the head. In this discipline, in addition to maximum protection when facing the most winding descents, it is necessary to have excellent ventilation as we have to climb by our own means with bulkier bikes than the more sporty XC models.

For the design of its ventilation channels, POC has used its experience in the manufacture of road cycling helmets that have greatly facilitated CFD analysis to achieve the optimal result where safety and ventilation go hand in hand at their common denominator.
Obviously, this POC Cularis does not give up on well-established solutions in the POC range such as the MIPS Air Node protection system, the magnetic closure buckle Fidlock, or the detachable visor in case of a fall to ensure that it does not interfere with impact absorption and, therefore, affect the helmet's safety.
On the other hand, the Cytal road helmet is a model that takes advantage of all the aerodynamic development carried out for the Cytal Carbon model currently found in the brand's catalog. Integrating into its structure a kind of wing that favors the airflow through it and aerodynamic gain.
In fact, almost as much as its low wind resistance, the great level of ventilation achieved stands out with a studied airflow that takes advantage of the venturi effect so that pressure zones are created inside the helmet to accelerate the airflow, facilitating the expulsion of the air heated by the head and the entry of fresh air.
This ventilation goes hand in hand with the studied aerodynamics through CFD simulations and wind tunnel tests that allow combining the large air intake openings so that they contribute to improving resistance contrary to what traditional aerodynamic science has dictated, which avoided any element that broke the continuity of lines.
Of course, like its mountain counterpart, it also has the maximum protection that achieves 5 stars in the prestigious Virginia Tech tests and also includes protection against rotational impacts MIPS Air Node.
This Cytal also shares with the Cularis model the Eye Garage design of its lateral air openings, which aims to ensure that when the cyclist places the glasses in the helmet slots, they remain there securely, even if we pedal fast.
The Cularis model weighs 350 g and has a price of 230 € while the Cytal weighs 250 g and has a price of 320 €. Both models will be available for sale, both on the POC website and at the brand's usual points of sale from March 25th.
