Tom Pidcock takes victory in the Short Track race in Crans Montana
With the notable absence of Victor Koretzky and doubts about whether Sam Gaze could perform at his best after a knee injury in recent days, the Short Track race in Crans Montana started on what may be the most technical circuit we have seen in this discipline.

Samuel Gaze's knee injury did not stop the New Zealander from taking the lead at the start line. But the pace did not slow down for many meters, and with the group still very compact, several cyclists took turns at the front.
The surprise came from the world champion Tom Pidcock, who fell completely behind the group.
By the end of the first lap, and after the technical section, Luca Schwarzbauer had opened a small gap alongside Nino Schurter, and both took the lead of the race.
But soon the group regrouped, and there was the Spanish rider Jofre Cullel, who was having another great race and was able to ride with the best once again.
Meanwhile, Pidcock continued to climb up the ranks but had not yet appeared at the front.
The third lap of six started with the front group full of favorites and all with a chance of victory, such as Blevins, Schurter, Colombo, Schwarzbauer, or Hatherly.
The technical sections caused some separation, but so far they did not seem to be decisive.
If anyone had doubts, Tom Pidcock was already at the front by the fourth lap. In less than 4 complete laps, he once again went from last place to the front of the race. Truly incredible.
Pidcock, Colombo, and Schurter passed like a train at the start of the fifth lap, and the British rider continued to lead the race on the next climb.
Only his compatriot Charlie Aldrige, CFR, tried to attack Pidcock, but the INEOS rider did not want any surprises and counterattacked to pull away solo by the end of the sixth lap.
The final lap began with Pidcock in the lead, followed a few meters behind by Charlie Aldrige and a generous chasing group behind them.
Tom Pidcock did not give any chances and finally crossed the finish line first to take the victory in the Short Track race in Crans Montana.
Behind him, the last lap was a real frenzy, and while the Swiss riders paid for their previous efforts, the German Julien Schelb managed his race very well and finished second, achieving his first elite podium. The Italian Luca Braidot completed the podium.
