Picnic PostNL denies that it will leave the WorldTour in 2027
Picnic PostNL has responded to the information published this week and assures that it is not preparing to drop to the ProTeam category for the 2027 season. The Dutch structure claims that its plans still involve competing in the WorldTour with both its men's and women's teams.
Picnic PostNL assures that it will continue to bet on the WorldTour
This week, the possibility arose that Picnic PostNL was considering voluntarily leaving the WorldTour and applying for a ProTeam license in 2027, a formula that would allow it to reduce calendar obligations and face the upcoming season with a less financially demanding structure.
Now the team has directly denied it. In statements collected by WielerFlits, a spokesperson for Picnic PostNL states that this possibility does not align with the current plans of the team.
“It is not true. We are simply busy with preparations for 2027 as a WorldTour team for both men and women”, explained the spokesperson.

The doubts about the future of Picnic PostNL stem from the particular situation of its license. When the UCI distributed licenses for the 2026-2028 cycle, the team was granted authorization only for 2026, while most teams obtained licenses for all three years directly.
The License Commission then established a series of conditions related to financial criteria that Picnic PostNL must meet in order to extend its license to 2027 and 2028. Athletically, the team had met the necessary requirements.
For now, therefore, Picnic PostNL's declared intention is to maintain its current structure. The men's and women's teams will continue preparing for 2027 as WorldTour formations, while its development team will continue competing in the Continental category.
