Three-time world champion Peter Sagan said goodbye in Glasgow to the event that has made him shine the most, and he did so on the new Specialized Tarmac SL8 in an all-black finish.

Peter Sagan has been Specialized's star ambassador so far and in his last World Championship he again rode the brand's latest, the new Tarmac SL8.

Peter Sagan came to the Glasgow World Championships with a very different goal than he would have had a few years ago. In fact it was so different that he didn't even make it to the finish line. Sagan is enjoying his final season as a professional cyclist and sees every major race as an opportunity to say goodbye.

He didn't even make it to the finish line, but Sagan is still one of the cyclists who receives the most looks and affection from the public.

That's it, my last UCI Road World Championship race is over! I have represented my home country, Slovakia, on the world stage, on roads on three continents, and I have been proud to wear our national colors while fighting to be crowned the world's best rider.

I had the immense honor and privilege of winning three consecutive editions, in 2015, 2016, and 2017, and my three years in the rainbow jersey will always be a highlight of my career.

Thanks to UCI and the organizers for another exciting race and congratulations to Mathieu for his well-deserved win.

Here you can read all the news about the new Tarmac SL8. The lightest and most aerodynamic version so far also comes at a lower price than its previous generation.
