Pachamama takes us to the most important gravel competition in the world

In a short time, gravel has conquered cyclists of all disciplines thanks to the fun and the incredible sensations of adventure and discovery provided by a modality responsible for recovering the best of this sport. But there is also a place for competition, and Orbea is bringing its Pachamama series to Unbound Gravel, the most important gravel race in the last 15 years.

Pachamama travels to the world's best gravel competition

Orbea has set out to reveal some of the best gravel stories happening today, and Pachamama was born out of the imperative need for adventure that gravel provides. A series of videos in which this modality will be the link between people and places.

This issue of Pachamama premieres under the title "Tears of Joy" and we travel directly to the most important competitive gravel event in the world: Unbound Gravel.

Formerly known as Dirty Kanza, the Unbound Gravel has been held every year in Emporia, Kansas, on the first weekend after Memorial Day since 2006, except in 2020 when it was cancelled due to the pandemic.

Although there are currently 6 events ranging from 40 km to 560 km, the original event is the 320 km Unbound Gravel 200. With each edition, the standard is higher and higher and it has established itself as the great mecca of gravel racing.

But events like Unbound show us that there are countless ways to approach competition. And what is experienced every year in the town of Emporia is the proof that gravel and competition are capable of creating community and connecting very different places and people.

In this documentary, Adam Kachman, photographer and Orbea ambassador, tells us how, after his participation in Unbound, he has fallen in love again with the sensations of a competition. But other protagonists, such as Lelan, Kristi Mohn, Yuri Hauswald, Zander Ault, Marley Blonsky or Heidi Rentz are also examples that certify that experiences like Unbound nourish the spirit and bring out sensations that you haven't experienced for a long time.
