In addition to his exhibition in La Vuelta, Castrillo has proven to be a solid cyclist throughout the season with great performances in races as varied as O Gran Camiño -3rd in the CRI of Coruña; last to hold on with Vingegaard in Ourense lands-, Slovenia (5th), Burgos (7th), Nationals (8th in CRI, 7th in road race), San Sebastián (top-20) or Croatia (7th). His consistency and values ??earned him a place, just ten days ago, on the Spanish National Team at the Zurich World Championships.
This is how Castrillo showed himself after the signing was announced:
"These last few weeks have been a big leap for me as a person and an important boost for my sports career, marked by that contract with a WorldTour team like Movistar Team. They are the reference in Spanish cycling and it is always special to race for this team.
There are a few weeks to assimilate what I achieved in La Vuelta and in this 2024 season, which I consider to have been very consistent on my part. Those two victories; also finishing at the home of my new team, with that impressive Telefónica headquarters... It has been very intense and I will not forget it.
The people close to me who have told me what the team is like have given me a lot of confidence for this signing. With Jorge (Arcas) I share training sessions and he has explained to me what the team is like on the inside, how they were going to take care of me and the things that were being done well. My brother Jaime also told me how well he had been.
I join the team with a lot of confidence and eager to start. It is a big leap and I want to contribute as much as possible, to do my part so that the team continues to grow and to grow with it. I am looking forward to 2025 and being able to wear that jersey".
