Oquo MP30LTD: complete analysis, specifications and opinion after thousands of kilometers
With just three years of existence, the company Oquo has shown a desire to offer a special product and be one of the references in the wheel market. With a genuine obsession for manufacturing and assembly quality, the latest update of their mountain range offers very interesting novelties. We have tested their top-of-the-line XCO model, Oquo MP30LTD, for thousands of kilometers.
Oquo MP30LTD: polishing down to the smallest detail in search of the best wheels
A couple of years ago, we visited the Oquo factory and saw the care and attention with which they assemble their wheels, with an obsession for approaching perfection that made it clear that this company is going to make a strong impact in the future.
A few months ago, they presented their new range and unveiled the only detail they were missing, their own hubs. These hubs still have the internal mechanism of DT Swiss, but the rest is exclusive to Oquo and has truly distinctive details.

Focusing on the test model we had, which is their top-of-the-line MP30LTD, we see that the hub is full of details and they have eliminated all unnecessary material to shave off the last grams. An example of this is the grooved disc anchor or the machining of the outer bushings. But perhaps the most striking detail of this hub is in the spoke anchor, which is straight pull type, but with a T-shaped head, so the spoke always maintains the correct alignment and is less likely to loosen.
Furthermore, the hub has been designed so that this spoke anchor is as close as possible to the axle to improve power transmission. Inside, the hub features the Ratchet EXP system from DT Swiss with 36 teeth.
The spokes used for the assembly of these Oquo MP30LTD are the renowned DT Aerolite, but in this case, with a T-shaped head, compatible with the hub. The wheels have 24 spokes in the front and 28 in the rear.
As for the rims, they are not lacking in technology and design details. To start, the front and rear rims are specific, with small variations in profile and shape to maximize performance according to the specific purpose of each wheel. In terms of internal width, both wheels have a width of 30mm.
In their construction, the areas around each spoke hole have been reinforced, allowing the rest of the rim to be lightened. Additionally, each hole is directed according to the path of each spoke to avoid adding a point of tension to the spoke as it exits the rim.
Oquo offers a wide range of options for wheel decoration. We can choose our test version, with the brand's letters, or the wheel with a sector decorated in a color that we can choose from numerous options.
We received the wheels as if we were an end user, and the wheels come with high-quality bags that we can use in the future with installed tires. Also, as expected, valves, a bottle of sealant, and the tape already installed on the rim are included. Regarding the tape, we also saw in situ the machines developed by Oquo engineers to ensure that its installation offers the reliability guarantee of a premium product.
Before mounting the wheels, we weighed them and were given a figure of 1392 grams. This is a very good weight, and although there are lighter wheels, this weight, considering the lightness of these hubs and spokes, makes us think that they have built their wheels with a wide margin of safety for the intended use.
We put on the tires and mounted them on one of our personal bikes. At this point, we have to say that, although the Oquo company has a close link to Orbea, they are independent brands, and in fact, Oquo has expressed their intention to become an alternative for any bike on the market.
As we were planning a long-term test, before the first use, we wanted to check the tensions of the assembly, in case there were imbalances or variations during use. The truth is that we were very surprised by the balance in the tensions on each side. This is something that is always sought after but not always achieved with such accuracy, and it suggests that we are dealing with wheels that are going to be extremely reliable.
On the road with the Oquo MP30LTD
We installed the wheels on our bike and started our tests.
The Oquo MP30LTD gives the bike the agility and acceleration capability typical of XCO competition wheels. The bike climbs very easily, but also, when we stand up, the Oquo wheels show their lateral rigidity, and the bike feels solid, transforming all our energy into forward motion.
Rolling on fast tracks, we benefit from the comfort provided by the 30mm internal width of the rims, which, combined with 2.35" tires, allows us to run low pressures, softening the small irregularities of the terrain and offering excellent rolling.
The excellent rigidity of the MP30LTD also shows its virtues in descents. This is where they have surprised us the most, as due to their lightness, the reactivity mentioned earlier was logical, but the Oquo wheels have given us a lot of confidence in the lateral supports, allowing us to control the trajectory in those moments where we push the limits.
In short, the Oquo MP30LTD offers everything good that we can expect from top-of-the-line wheels, with no weak points to mention.
As for the sound of the hub, a detail that some users consider important, it is identical to that of a high-end DT hub, as the ratchet system is the same. This means that it is a clearly audible sound, but not strident, although it largely depends on the amount of lubricating oil it has.
Our conclusions after several thousand kilometers with the Oquo MP30LTD
It has been several months of testing in which, apart from our usual training, we have run several races, some of them by stages and some marathons where the material has been "abused" quite a bit, with numerous river crossings and descents to the limit.
We have to say that we have not had the slightest incident. After a few months, we checked the ratchet, which was already sounding a bit louder, and found all the internal parts perfectly clean. We added a few drops of lubricant and continued.
We checked tensions again towards the end of our tests, and the same perfect balance remains, making us think that, if not for an accident or an abnormal impact, the Oquo wheels are going to withstand the most demanding treatment for years.
And in the aesthetic department, they also withstand the test of time, as after numerous impacts with rocks, the rims show hardly any scratch marks. This detail has really surprised us as we see a clear difference compared to other rims we have used.
The price of the Oquo MP30LTD is €1,999. We consider this price to be in line with the market for top-of-the-line wheels, without being among the most expensive.
Within the Oquo range focused on XC, we also find the MP30TEAM model, with the same rims for €1,299, and the MP28PRO model, with aluminum rims and DT Swiss hubs for €599.
