Nino Schurter resurges in Andorra and seems to leave his respiratory problems behind
After weeks marked by discreet results and concerns about his physical condition, Nino Schurter has once again excited in the Pal Arinsal World Cup in Andorra, with a solid performance that confirms a remarkable improvement. The Swiss XCO legend was competing for the top positions in the Short Track and finished 7th on Sunday, riding in the leading group throughout the race. And, most importantly, without any trace of the respiratory problems that had been affecting his performance this season.
Nino Schurter is back
The Andorran circuit, tough and demanding both in altitude and technical profile, did not forgive mistakes. But there, in that environment that punishes even the slightest physical deficit, Nino showed himself to be competitive once again. He managed the pace intelligently, remained in the fight for the fifth place in the XCO until the end, and crossed the finish line just a few seconds off the top 5, thus completing his best performance in the World Cup since April.
“A solid race from Nino. He stayed in the group fighting for the fifth position all the time, while the leading trio escaped driven by Tom Pidcock's relentless pace”, highlighted SCOTT-SRAM MTB Racing.

But the great news is that there seems to be no trace of the respiratory problems that have been haunting him since May. “A very positive sign that Nino is getting back on track”, celebrated the Swiss team.
On Friday, during the Short Track (XCC) race, Schurter was also very combative, riding alongside his teammate Filippo Colombo in the leading group. However, Victor Koretzky's chain breakage took him out of the fight for the top positions. Still, he arrived on Sunday with renewed strength and left a great impression in the main race.
This result comes at the best possible time. With the European Championship just around the corner, Nino needed a confidence boost and, above all, to see that he can compete again without physical limitations. If he has shown anything throughout his long career, it is his ability to reinvent himself, we will see how far he can go once again.
