New Wilier Filante SL ID2: the SLR’s aerodynamic DNA comes to a more accessible and versatile version
Wilier Triestina expands its family of aerodynamic road bikes with the new Filante SL ID2, a model that inherits much of the development from the Filante SLR ID2, including its racing geometry and aerodynamic approach, but is designed to bring the Filante experience closer to a wider range of cyclists. More versatile, compatible with tires up to 34 mm and available from 4,800 euros, it comes with four builds and six sizes.
Wilier Filante SL ID2: "Sempre Racing" as a starting point
Wilier summarizes the new Filante SL ID2 around three concepts: design, racing DNA, and Smart Performance. It is not about abandoning the competitive character of the Filante family to create a more relaxed bike, but rather about preserving it within a platform adapted to current needs.

According to the Italian brand, it is designed for both daily training and quick rides as well as long days on the bike or competition. In other words, it maintains a clearly sporty orientation but expands its range of use.

Aerodynamics inherited from the Filante SLR ID2
One of the most important aspects of the new Filante SL ID2 is that it inherits the aerodynamic concept from the Filante SLR ID2 and the development work done for the latter.

This process was carried out alongside the technical team of Groupama-FDJ United, combining advanced CFD simulations with subsequent tests and validations in the Silverstone wind tunnel.

The philosophy followed by Wilier is not just to optimize the frame tubes in isolation. The brand considers aerodynamics as a system involving bicycle, cyclist, and components.
Hence the integration between frame and cockpit, the optimized profiles, and the care taken with those elements that influence airflow when the bike is rolling in real conditions.
Same racing geometry as the Filante SLR ID2
Another particularly relevant point is that Wilier has not relaxed the geometry to differentiate this SL version.
The Filante SL ID2 shares the racing geometries of the Filante SLR ID2, aiming to maintain precise handling, stability at high speeds, and a quick response when the cyclist changes pace.

The range is structured around six sizes, from XS to XXL. The reach starts at 373.5 mm in XS and goes up to 408 mm in XXL, while the stack ranges from 505 to 595 mm.
| Geometry | XS | S | M | L | XL | XXL |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| C/C (cm) | 44.5 | 47.5 | 50.5 | 52.5 | 54.5 | 56.5 |
| L (cm) | 50.8 | 52.6 | 54.2 | 55.9 | 57.6 | 59 |
| H (cm) | 45 | 48 | 51 | 53 | 55 | 57 |
| A (°) | 75.2 | 74.5 | 74 | 73.5 | 73 | 73 |
| L1 (cm) | 41.1 | 41.1 | 41.1 | 41.1 | 41.3 | 41.3 |
| H1 (cm) | 9.9 | 11.5 | 13.2 | 14.9 | 16.6 | 18.3 |
| A1 (°) | 70.6 | 71.5 | 72 | 72.5 | 73 | 73.5 |
| Reach (mm) | 373.5 | 380 | 386.5 | 393 | 400 | 408 |
| Stack (mm) | 505 | 523 | 541 | 559 | 577 | 595 |
| Wheelbase (mm) | 980.5 | 985.1 | 992.9 | 1000.4 | 1010.1 | 1018.5 |
The chainstay length remains at 411 mm up to size L, slightly increasing to 413 mm in XL and XXL.

Up to 34 mm tires, UDH, and single chainring transmissions
Although the position and behavior continue to be clearly performance-oriented, Wilier has introduced several features that make the Filante SL ID2 a bike more prepared for current road cycling.

The main one is a tire clearance for tires up to 34 mm. This is a considerable figure for a competition aero bike and allows the use of larger volume tires seeking more comfort, grip, and capability on deteriorated asphalt.
In addition, there is compatibility with single chainring transmissions and the UDH standard, two features that increase the bike's configuration possibilities and prepare it for the latest generations of groups.
New fully integrated R-Bar handlebar
The Filante SL ID2 also debuts the new R-Bar, developed specifically around three aspects: ergonomics, control, and aerodynamics.

The cabling is completely integrated, and the handlebar features drops with a total flare of 3 cm. This way, Wilier introduces a slight opening at the bottom of the handlebar while maintaining a compact and aerodynamic configuration at the top.
This cockpit is part of the overall integration of the set and is included in the builds announced by the brand.
Aerokit SL: the bottles are also part of the aerodynamics
The integration continues with the new Aerokit SL, a hydration system designed to integrate into the shapes of the bike without breaking the aesthetic cleanliness of the whole.

Additionally, Wilier maintains the option to install the Aerokit SLR for those looking to maximize aerodynamic efficiency.
This is another example of the approach that Wilier has followed with this platform: aerodynamics does not end at the frame but considers the bike as a complete system.
Wilier Filante SL ID2 range: from 4,800 euros
The initially announced European range consists of four builds, all with electronic groups and carbon wheels. Additionally, they are available in four finishes: Drive White, Pivot Grey, Pulse Red, and Flow Blue.
