The new Trek Slash+ is just what you think
Trek announces the launch of the Slash+, the electric version of the Slash, the long-travel enduro bike from the American manufacturer. The similarities between the two sisters are more than reasonable, although in this case it comes with a TQ HPR50 motor and a 580 Wh battery. The range consists of two models and starts at around 7,370 euros.
Trek Slash+: the renowned enduro bike now comes in its electric version
The Slash is a model that has been in the Trek family for years. It is a bike designed to traverse paths full of roots and rocky areas only suitable for models designed specifically for these situations. The sixth generation of the Slash appeared on the scene less than a year ago with significant updates: updated geometry, mullet wheels, and a high pivot that was presented as one of the main buying arguments.
Now, Trek introduces the Slash+. The American brand has preserved the concept of the Slash while working on it; that is, it has maintained the spirited nature of its twin by incorporating small changes and continuing with other aspects.

The Slash+ features the TQ HPR50 motor -50 Nm and 250 W-. The power unit stands out for its silence and natural feeling of driving, which is perceived more intensely thanks to the high pivot suspension. Trek explains that during the development process, they debated on what power motor they wanted to equip their model with.
The company conducted a study to determine whether to equip their catalog with a high or medium power Slash+; the performance results leaned towards the second option.
The motor is powered by a removable 580 Wh battery, although there is also the option to equip a 360 Wh one -which requires a change of the top cover-. Additionally, a 160 Wh range extender can also be added.
Just like with the Slash, the suspension travel is 170 mm both front and rear and one of the standout elements is the high pivot design. In fact, the kinematics are almost identical between the two sisters.
The main advantages of the high pivot design are that the axle moves backward, so the rear wheel moves in the same direction as the impact force. This results in greater momentum in some situations and a reduction in jolts on certain bumps.
The geometry has remained almost unchanged from the Slash -without the ML size, they have chosen to fill the gap between sizes M and L with a reach adjustment-. Thus, the head angle remains at 63.5° -with the possibility of adjusting it 1 degree up or down-, the effective seat angle at 77°, reach of 448 mm, and chainstays of 440 mm.
Another highlight is the mullet configuration, which provides greater agility and maneuverability. Additionally, the larger sizes -L and XL- offer most riders the possibility of mounting 200 mm seatposts.
The drivetrain has two pulleys near the chainring. The Slash+ also features a top pulley with 19 teeth, which eliminates pedal kickback caused by chain growth and is positioned to help determine anti-squat values.
Furthermore, it maintains space for a water bottle and the range extender -which mounts on the bottle cage- and has a TQ display with customizable settings using the Trek Central app.
