New Specialized Status 2: models and prices
Specialized has announced the launch of the Status 2. This is one of the most different models from the American manufacturer, as it moves away from the usual race for lightness and speed to seek a trail concept with playful bike attributes on any terrain. The range includes a DH model and starts at 3,700 euros.
Specialized Status 2: the irreverence of a bike that is much more than a trail
The presentations of the new models are usually accompanied by grandiloquent phrases that value lightness, pedaling efficiency, component technology, or performance. Brands coexist in a permanent dialectical battle to win the market discourse and convince the end user that their product is better than the competition. However, now Specialized has set aside -for a moment- its role as a leading and innovative manufacturer.

New Specialized Chisel, an Epic 8 in aluminum?
The Specialized Status 2 breaks the molds of conventional MTB categories; a model difficult to fit, designed to be fun and capable in situations as diverse as the terrain typical of a trail, a bike park, or for doing tricks on the way to work. An extroverted, carefree, and irreverent concept with which to stand out and captivate those who live cycling beyond the scale and data.
Still, Specialized ensures that they have poured the same engineering efforts as those used in other brand emblems, with the difference that here simplicity and versatility have been sought regardless of the type of terrain.
Both models in the range come with M5 aluminum frame, aluminum wheels, powerful brakes, and suspensions and transmission where durability and resistance have been prioritized. As it happened in the previous Status, Specialized repeats the formula and once again opts for a mullet configuration on the wheels.
The geometry has been updated with a more vertical seat tube angle -77º or 77.6º- for better pedaling when going uphill. The Status 2 offers a high degree of customization thanks to the flip chip located on the Horst Link, which allows adjusting some measurements according to the preferences of the rider.
Thus, the bottom bracket height -342 or 350 mm-, the head angle -63.5º or 64º- the chainstays -432 or 436 mm-, the reach -470 or 476 mm- and the stack -634 or 629 mm- can be adjusted.
