Back in stock the Rockrider RACE 940 S, the most sought-after mountain bike of 2024
Decathlon puts on sale the RACE 940 S after the development that the cyclists of the French team carried out during the last season. The model has the same frame as the professional squad and 120 mm suspensions both front and rear. The exclusive top-of-the-range version comes with premium components, weighs 11 kg and has a price of 6,499.99 euros.
Rockrider RACE 940 S: the bike born in the World Cup now arrives at Decathlon
Decathlon made a big splash in the international elite XCO. The French giant consolidated those ambitions last year when they announced another colossus like Ford as a sponsor of the team. After a season that gave them several podiums in the World Cup and several medals in the national XCC and XCO championships, now the Rockrider RACE 940 S becomes a reality beyond the circuits.
The brand acknowledges that they have used the Rockrider Ford Racing Team as a testing laboratory. A way to subject the bike to the demands of some of the best riders in the world, who with their feedback have helped to perfect a machine that is now ready to take the best place in Decathlon stores.

The range is actually made up of two versions of the same model: Rockrider RACE 940 S Limited Edition and Rockrider RACE 940 S. Both share the frame -the same one used by the team's cyclists-, TRP X2 brakes, and 120 mm of suspension travel both front and rear.
The geometry pivots on a 66.5° head angle, a 75.4° seat tube angle, and 435 mm chainstays. Additionally, the stack is 595.2 mm and the reach measures 449.2 mm.
The differences are in the components. The RACE 940 S Limited Edition -with "ultralimited units"- has FSA carbon handlebar, SRAM XX AXS T-Type transmission, and Mavic CrossMax XLR wheels. Regarding the suspension, Decathlon has chosen to include RockShox SID SL Ultimate and Sid Luxe Ultimate.
The RACE 940 S is more budget-friendly, although components that combine quality and performance have been sought. For this reason, the aluminum cockpit is signed by the French brand and a SRAM GX AXS T-Type transmission and Reynolds carbon wheels have been chosen. The suspension is handled by SID Base and a SID Luxe shock.
The Belgian XCO Champion 2023, Emeline Detilleux, has stated that "everything in this bike has been designed for performance. It is a true racing machine, without compromising comfort."
On the other hand, Decathlon's MTB Product Manager, Luis Moro, has stated that "it has been quite a challenge" to conceive this top-level bike in such a short time. "We developed it in just 14 months when, usually, we would need two years. We are very proud of this year of co-development with the team and finally making it available to all cyclists."
