New Pinarello X Series: more comfort, 40 mm tyres and integrated storage from €3,200
Pinarello completely renews its X Series family, the endurance road range positioned below the DOGMA X. The second generation maintains its long-distance oriented geometry but introduces significant changes in the frame, the X-Stays, the seat post, the integration of the wiring, and the tire clearance, which now reaches up to 40 mm. The collection consists of five models: X9, X7, X5, X3, and X1, with prices in Europe ranging from 3,200 to 11,000 euros.

The Pinarello X Series is renewed with long hours on the bike in mind
Pinarello has presented the second generation of its X Series, a family that represents its interpretation of the endurance road bike. In contrast to the DOGMA X approach, which prioritizes performance, here the focus shifts towards comfort, vibration absorption, and versatility for tackling long days on all types of roads.

The Italian brand has not modified the geometry, which continues to be longer and taller than that of the DOGMA X, but has conducted a thorough technical review around it. The result includes a new evolution of the X-Stays (the vibration-absorbing stay system), different carbon layups depending on the model, a seat post with controlled flex, storage within the down tube, a new head tube, and space to mount considerably wider tires.
This combination of solutions precisely shows where the endurance segment is evolving. The ability to use tires up to 40 mm significantly expands the terrain in which the new X Series can operate without turning it into a gravel bike.

X-Stays 2.0: Pinarello evolves its double stay system
One of the most recognizable visual and structural features of the range remains the X-Stays system, inheriting the concept also used in the DOGMA X.
In this second generation, a X-Stays 2.0 version appears, consisting of upper double-arm stays and four connection points. Pinarello has revised its design and positioned its anchor points lower.

According to the brand, this configuration allows for more efficient dispersion of vibrations coming from the asphalt. The lower position of the connection also aims to reduce the rebound of the structure after absorbing an impact, achieving a more controlled behavior.
It is not, therefore, a proper suspension, but rather using the structure itself and controlled flex of the frame to filter some of the irregularities that reach the cyclist.

Three types of carbon depending on the model
Pinarello differentiates the five versions of the new X Series also by the carbon used in each frame.
The X9 and X7 use Torayca T900, a layup with which the brand seeks to balance responsiveness, weight, and vibration absorption.
The X5 and X3 switch to T700 carbon, optimized to maintain good structural response while providing greater vibration damping capacity.

Finally, the X1 uses a T600 structure with unidirectional finish, prioritizing vertical compliance and comfort even more.
In this way, the difference between models is not limited solely to the groupset or wheels. The very construction of the frame changes within the range.
A new seat post capable of flexing 10 mm
The work of the X-Stays is complemented by a new adaptive seat post designed to provide up to 10 mm of longitudinal flex.

Pinarello claims that this solution is lighter and more efficient than the one previously used for absorbing impacts and vibrations. The seat post and the X-Stays work together to isolate the cyclist from the irregularities of the surface without resorting to mechanical suspension systems.
It is a solution particularly focused on reducing accumulated fatigue during long hours on the bike, one of the main objectives of this X Series.
Integrated storage within the down tube
Another major innovation is directly related to long-distance use. The new X Series incorporates an integrated storage compartment in the down tube.
A cover allows access to the inside of the frame, where Pinarello has designed a small specific bag. In it, tools, tubes, nutrition, or other essential items can be transported.

This solution avoids the need to resort to external bags and maintains the clean aesthetics of the whole, while the bike gains the capacity to tackle long routes with greater autonomy.
New elliptical head tube and completely integrated wiring
The X9, X7, X5, and X3 also incorporate a new elliptical section head tube that allows for complete integration of the cable routing at the front.
But Pinarello does not present the change solely as an aesthetic issue. The new construction seeks to increase torsional stiffness and precision of the front end, something that should translate into more precise and stable steering, especially on long descents or when the asphalt is deteriorated.

The X1 is the exception. The entry-level model retains the frame architecture of the previous generation of the X Series. Pinarello has made this decision to maintain full compatibility with traditional mechanical groups.
Up to 40 mm tire clearance: the X Series significantly expands its possibilities
One of the most significant changes of this generation is the increase in tire clearance to 40 mm.

This is a particularly generous figure for a road bike and allows for the use of large volume tubeless tires to gain grip, control, and absorption. It also opens the door to using the bike on very deteriorated roads and even simple trails depending on the tire used.
Additionally, the frame is compatible with SRAM UDH (Universal Derailleur Hanger).
This increase in tire clearance is probably one of the features that best defines the evolution of the new X Series. Pinarello retains a platform clearly oriented towards the road but allows configurations that just a few years ago would have been much closer to what is called all-road.
The geometry is one of the few things that Pinarello has not changed
Despite the number of modifications introduced, Pinarello has decided to maintain the geometry of the previous generation.
The X Series continues to use a higher and longer position than the DOGMA X, seeking a balance between efficiency and comfort during prolonged rides.

Fausto Pinarello, president of the company, explains that the goal of this new generation has been to respond to the needs of cyclists who undertake long rides on real roads, increasing comfort and vibration absorption without sacrificing performance.
According to Pinarello, solutions such as storage in the down tube, the new elliptical head tube, and the adaptive seat post allow the bike to tackle longer routes and more uneven terrain while maintaining the character of the range.

Pinarello X Series: models and prices from 3,200 to 11,000 euros
The range is structured into five levels: X9, X7, X5, X3, and X1. In addition to the different carbon used in the frames, each version receives a specific build.
| Model | Groupset | Wheels | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| X9 | Shimano Dura-Ace Di2 2x12 DB | MOST Ultrafast 45 DB | 11,000 € |
| X7 | Shimano Ultegra Di2 2x12 DB | MOST Ultrafast 45 DB | 7,900 € |
| X5 | Shimano 105 Di2 2x12 DB | MOST Fast 45 DB | 5,100 € |
| X3 | Shimano 105 Di2 2x12 DB | DT Swiss A1800 DB | 4,500 € |
| X1 | Shimano 105 2x12 DB | MOST Fast 27 DB | 3,200 € |
The X9, the top model, combines the T900 frame with Shimano Dura-Ace Di2 and MOST Ultrafast 45 DB wheels. The X7 maintains the same type of carbon and wheels but switches to Ultegra Di2.
Below, the X5 and X3 use T700 carbon and Shimano 105 Di2. The main difference in build is found in the wheels: MOST Fast 45 DB on the X5 and DT Swiss A1800 DB on the X3.
The X1 constitutes a different proposal within the family. It uses T600 carbon, retains the previous frame architecture, and mounts Shimano 105 mechanical 12-speed, along with MOST Fast 27 DB wheels.
In terms of finishes, the X9 will be available in Shadow Violet; the X7 in Atlas Glow and Titan Pulse; the X5 in Iron Blue and Amber Trace; the X3 in Interstellar Alloy and Element Black; and the X1 in Racing Red and Racing Black.
With this second generation, Pinarello takes its endurance range towards a considerably more versatile concept. The 40 mm tire clearance, internal storage, and specific work on absorption through the X-Stays 2.0 and the new seat post allow for an expanded action radius of the X Series, while the geometry remains to preserve the character that differentiated this family within the catalog of the Italian brand.
