The new KASK Nirvana ensures "a game-changing aerodynamic performance"
The Italian manufacturer Kask announces the arrival of Nirvana as the new flagship member of its catalog. The model has been protecting the heads of the INEOS Grenadiers riders since the beginning of the year, and the brand ensures that it has unmatched aerodynamic and ventilation performance in the market. The helmet weighs 270 grams and is available for 360 euros.
Kask Nirvana: when aerodynamic performance and ventilation come together in a top-level helmet
The helmet is the main safety element for any cyclist, a basic item in the wardrobe of any cycling enthusiast. Cycling is a dynamic sport that lives in constant renewal, an endless race towards innovation and the establishment of new standards. Safety is the main attribute of helmets, although when it comes to competition models - where every gain is welcome - the industry also focuses its efforts on performance.
Now, Kask has just presented the new Nirvana. The Italian brand supplies helmets to the INEOS Grenadiers - as well as to many other teams outside the World Tour - and their riders have been wearing this model since the beginning of the year.

The main feature of the Nirvana is that it improves ventilation by 19% compared to any model in the competition, as well as having 35% superior aerodynamic performance. These data belong to Kask itself, which, on the other hand, does not provide details of these claims.
The Italian manufacturer has leveraged the design experience of other helmets from the brand, as the concept of front ventilation is practically a copy of what the Utopia Y offers, while the sides and the back resemble the Bambino.
One of the most striking points is that the top of the ears is covered by the sides, although they claim that these covers are not suitable for cyclists with large ears.
Kask states that for the development of the Nirvana, they have used computational fluid dynamics to test the aerodynamics - through a digital model of a cyclist. Thus, the data has shown that at a wind speed of 45 km/h at angles of 0-10-20 degrees, it is less resistant than its sibling Utopia Y.
All this translates into an optimization of performance that, despite being relatively important for the more conventional user, translates into an aid for the professional rider.
The helmet uses the Octofit+ retention system - made by Kask itself - which consists of a bidirectional dial at the back; this improves the fit, comfort, and allows long hair to pass through the back.
Nirvana has followed the safety standard of the WG1 brand, different from the well-known MIPS and awaiting a rating from Virginia Tech. According to Kask, the internal Multipod padding - 3D printed - absorbs 10% more energy in impact and is an isotropic material; that is, it responds in the same way to force regardless of the direction.
On the other hand, a reflector can also be added to the back of the helmet.
