FOX 34 SL Fork: a new XCO standard with up to 130mm of travel
It has just been introduced but the truth is that we have been seeing it rolling in XCO and XCM races for months. The FOX 34 SL is born as a fork for Downcountry, but due to its weight and performance, it is also perfect for any XCO World Cup.
Among its main features, the FOX 34 SL uses a robust full 34mm chassis, abandoning the Step-Cast design which offers greater structural capacity and up to 130mm of travel.

Torsional stiffness is significantly increased by 17%, thanks to the complete redesign of the arch, which now fully wraps around the lower part of the stanchions, and the crown made of 7000 Series aluminum with strategically positioned internal perforations to optimize weight and stiffness. This structural assembly is complemented by a black anodized finish that further reduces the final weight compared to paint.
In terms of internals, the new fork features a key 20% increase in bushing distance compared to the previous 34 Step-Cast, achieving a significant reduction in friction, especially noticeable under high front load conditions. The four Teflon-coated aluminum bushings minimize dynamic resistance. The brand ensures that this offers a notable improvement in overall sensitivity throughout the suspension travel.
The incorporation of internal lubrication channels, repositioned from the rear to the internal sides, allows for more efficient oil circulation, optimizing response to small impacts and ensuring a constant reduction in dynamic friction, even under extreme driving demands.
The heart of the FOX 34 SL is in the advanced GRIP SL cartridge, specifically designed for XC competition. This cartridge stands out for a critical weight reduction and exceptional performance in terms of sensitivity and damping efficiency, thus responding to the most demanding conditions of the XCO World Cup.
With a total weight of just 1475 grams (29" model with 130mm and GRIP SL cartridge), the brand ensures that the FOX 34 SL is positioned as the lightest and most competitive option in its segment, being up to 40 grams lighter than its direct competitor.
In addition, FOX has incorporated additional improvements such as the Kabolt SL axle, which reduces 12 grams compared to the standard Kabolt axle, and a tapered bar that contributes another 9 grams less to the final assembly.
The new forks, with a continuous width design, accept tires up to 2.5” and brake discs up to 203mm, features that far exceed those possible with previous Step-Cast designs, thus enhancing technical versatility and configuration options.
In addition to the fork, FOX introduces the innovative Twin Stick remote, which integrates suspension and dropper post control into a single remote with an ultra-lightweight of just 66 grams.
