Osmo Action 5 Pro: DJI's action camera now comes with unique features and functions in the market

The manufacturer DJI has just presented the Osmo Action 5 Pro, this is the latest version of its action camera and comes with several unique functions in its segment and capable of competing with professional cameras, according to the brand. The 13.5 dynamic range steps, the 4-hour battery life, or the framing and target tracking are just some of them.

New DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro

In terms of aesthetics, weight, and dimensions, we are facing a camera very similar to its previous model, also with the double touch screen. But inside, the new DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro has received important modifications that make it one of the best options on the market.

For example, the Osmo Action 5 Pro, with its latest generation 1/1.3" sensor, a pixel size of 2.4 μm, and a high dynamic range of 13.5 steps, is considered the first action camera with specifications that compete with professional cameras. All this translates into exceptional recording quality and for example its ability to record in low light is now among the best in its segment.

The autonomy has skyrocketed in this version, and the Osmo Action 5 Pro allows up to 4 hours of continuous use with a single battery: an improvement of 50% compared to its predecessor. Even at minimum temperatures of -20°C, the camera promises to reliably record video for up to 3.6 hours. To put its capacity into perspective, the industry average for action camera battery life is approximately 2 hours. In addition, the battery can offer 2 hours of recording with a 15-minute charge using the 30W DJI fast USB-C charger.

Also, the Osmo Action 5 Pro is the only one capable of diving up to 20m without a housing and is considered the first action camera that offers integrated framing and target tracking, which will allow, for example, framing a cyclist during a descent and the camera will take care of following him without losing focus on the scene.

 

The OLED screens on the Osmo Action 5 Pro are now larger without increasing the size of the set, they are touch-sensitive and thanks to their high brightness, it makes it easier to record during the day.

Among the rest of its features, we can highlight the 47GB of internal memory, high-speed transfer up to 80MB/s via Wi-Fi 6.0 or USB 3.0, the ability to stream live via Wi-Fi compatible with various resolutions, or the pre-recording that starts recording moments before the official recording begins.
