CORE 2 is the new version of the sensor that measures the body's core temperature during training and was used by some cyclists in their preparation for the 2021 Tokyo Olympics marked by stifling temperatures. With its new version CORE 2, this sensor aims to be easier to use thanks to its small size and lightness.

Monitoring body temperature during training is now easier with the new CORE 2

Looking ahead to the preparation for the 2021 Tokyo Olympics where high temperatures and humidity were expected, the use of the CORE sensor became popular in the preparation of participating athletes, including cyclists. This sensor allows measuring the body's core temperature through a small device that attaches with a clip to the heart rate monitor strap, enabling the control of body temperature and therefore better planning of training aimed at achieving the best heat adaptation.

In fact, according to the brand itself, currently 65% of World Tour teams use the CORE sensor in the preparation of their cyclists, adding another piece of data to the increasingly long list of physiological parameters that are measured and taken into account to maximize cyclist performance.

Now comes the CORE 2, the evolution of this temperature sensor that has focused on reducing its size and weight to achieve the same benefits but being much more comfortable for the cyclist to use. The data speaks for itself. The new CORE 2 is 48% smaller and 30% lighter.

Adaptation to high temperatures is a very interesting parameter for cyclists, especially for those who aim to perform at their best during the summer, a time of year when races like the Tour de France or the Vuelta a España are marked by increasingly scorching days. To achieve better adaptation, CORE establishes heat training zones similar to those used with power and heart rate.

Like its predecessor, the CORE 2 is compatible with most cycling computers on the market, connecting via Bluetooth Smart or ANT+, and has the same price as the previous version, which is around €288. A device that will be available for sale starting in March 2025. Additionally, the brand has established a trade-in plan so that those who have a CORE can get a CORE 2 with a significant discount. They are also clearing out the original CORE with a 20% discount.
