Movistar has special kit for La Vuelta and you can already get one
On the occasion of the 79th edition of La Vuelta a España, which will take place between August 17 and September 8, 2024, Movistar Team joins Telefónica's Centennial with a special jersey that pays tribute to the company's history and legacy.
Telefónica buildings on the Movistar jersey
The new kit designed by GOBIK for the Movistar team stands out for a design that reflects the most emblematic buildings of Telefónica, combining a white background with blue strokes that represent both the company's history and its connection with Madrid. The jersey, named "Movistar Team Century," incorporates advanced technology to maximize aerodynamic performance, with optimal muscle compression fit and an ultralight weight of only 110 grams.
"They say that gratitude is the memory of the heart, and there is no better time than the great tour of our country to thank so many generations of Telefónica employees who did something unique, because they believed that the impossible was possible," explained the team from Navarra in a statement.

With this new kit, the team led by Enric Mas and Nairo Quintana wanted to "reach every home." "Telefónica is an exciting story of constant transformation and, in La Vuelta, Movistar Team will reach every home with its iconic race kit, proudly remembering who we are and where we come from. Celebrating the construction of an exciting future," they stated.
The 79th edition of the Vuelta a España will culminate on September 8 with a 22-kilometer time trial through the streets of Madrid. The capital will once again be the setting for the final stage, in which cyclists will pass through eight districts: Hortaleza, Chamartín, Ciudad Lineal, Centro, Tetuán, Chamberí, Salamanca, and Retiro. The stage will start in Las Tablas, in the 'Telefónica District,' and finish at the historic Telefónica building on Gran Vía, a finale that will not only mark the end of the race but also celebrate the centenary of the Spanish company.
Where can you buy the new Movistar jersey and how much does it cost?
For those who want to purchase the new jersey of the only Spanish team in the World Tour, they can do so through the Gobik website. The brand that dresses Movistar Team offers the new model for La Vuelta a España 2024 at a price of 75€ for the Odyssey model and 98€ for the Infinity model.
In addition, the ABUS helmets that the cyclists will use, AirBreaker and GameChanger 2.0 models, also feature illustrations of Telefónica buildings, combining aerodynamics, lightness, and ventilation to ensure the best performance in any racing situation that the cyclists may encounter in the Spanish tour.
The Spanish team will also have a 'lifestyle' clothing line specially designed for the riders and team staff thanks to the collaboration of the Madrid-based brand BORN. This collection, made with sustainable materials, includes t-shirts inspired by the last stage of La Vuelta, with details that pay homage to the company's buildings.
Telefónica, founded in 1924, has left a deep mark on Madrid with its emblematic buildings, such as Gran Vía 28, inaugurated in 1929, and Distrito Telefónica, its modern headquarters inaugurated in 2008. With this new kit, Eusebio Unzué's team wanted to join the celebration of a century of history of a company that has marked a before and after in communication and technology in Spain.
