More development for gravel: this Garbaruk cassette expands SRAM XPLR 13v groups to 10-52
Third-party compatible components are starting to arrive for the SRAM XPLR gravel groups, which in their latest version incorporated a full mount rear derailleur design and jumped to 13 cogs in order to achieve both sufficient range for the most demanding gravel routes and contained jumps between cogs. Now, the Polish premium component brand Garbaruk has launched a cassette compatible with these groups.

More Lightness and Capacity in the New Garbaruk Cassette for SRAM XPLR Groups
Incredible work has been done by the lightweight component brand Garbaruk, which has just launched a 13-speed cassette for the XDR hub system, that is, a cassette intended to complement the stock options in the SRAM XPLR gravel groups.
The new cassette features a 10-52 tooth configuration, much more capable than the 10-46 combination, the only one available for the three 13-speed gravel groups offered by SRAM: Red, Force, and Rival, allowing gravel route enthusiasts to have sufficient development range. This had become impossible with the jump to 13, where compatibility between AXS components could not be used, and one could not resort to using an MTB Eagle derailleur and cassette as many did with the previous 12-speed XPLR groups.

The Garbaruk Gen 2.0 cassette uses steel for its first 12 cogs while the top one is made of aluminum to reduce weight to an incredible 343 g as claimed by the brand. The last cog is available as a spare to replace it in case of damage or premature wear.
Garbaruk has worked intensively on this Gen 2.0 cassette with a ramp design that allows for proper functioning even if the derailleur is not perfectly adjusted, and that avoids the annoying habit of many used cassettes with single chainrings of dropping the chain when the cranks rotate backward. It also features a very open design in the central area of each cog so that mud and dirt have a harder time staying on the cassette.
Being a cassette intended for SRAM XPLR gravel groups, it must be used with a flattop chain. Regarding its wide tooth configuration, Garbaruk confirms that, despite having a much larger cog than the stock one, the cassette is perfectly compatible with the Force XPLR and Rival XPLR derailleurs. However, with the Red XPLR, it cannot function smoothly due to the very thick carbon pulley box.

To solve this and achieve optimal functioning, Garbaruk offers a pulley box designed to replace the stock one, weighing just 48 grams.
The price of this new Gen 2.0 cassette is €349, much more economical than the original Red, which has an official price of up to €675. In case you have a Red derailleur and need to replace the derailleur pulley, it is priced at €75 and is available in 8 anodized options to add a touch of color to your bike.
