More details about the new Trek XCO prototype
Just a week ago, we told you how Trek surprised everyone in La Nucía with a completely new XCO bike in the hands of Trek Unbroken. At that time, we could only analyze what a few images shared on social media revealed. Now, after seeing it live again during the Chelva Internationals, we have been able to examine it much more closely and confirm several key aspects of this platform, which, at this point, leaves no doubt that we are looking at a completely new model.
The new Trek XCO returns to the scene in Chelva and reveals more details
As we mentioned, in this model, Trek has opted for a monopivot rear system with a linkage, an architecture that currently offers one of the best ratios of weight, stiffness, and absorption capacity within modern XCO. It is a simple, efficient, and competitive scheme, aligned with the trend dominating the international elite. In that sense, it also seems to reflect the decision to mount a threaded bottom bracket.

By proportions and setup, everything points to the rear travel being around 115 mm, likely accompanied by 120 mm in the front fork. This configuration fits perfectly with the current circuits, which are increasingly technical, fast, and physically demanding.

Another aspect that stands out compared to the modified Top Fuel that the team used last year is the horizontal position of the shock. This solution not only allows for a cleaner integration within the main triangle but also optimizes dynamic behavior and leaves space for two water bottles. Moreover, it is the arrangement that most of the latest generation XCO bikes are using.
Despite the clean and streamlined lines of the frame, the cabling does not enter through the inside of the head tube. Trek has opted to maintain a conventional internal routing system, which greatly simplifies maintenance tasks.
In Chelva, the bike was once again showcased with the careful Project One aesthetic in purple that we already saw in La Nucía. The finish is characteristic of a final unit, not an improvised prototype, reinforcing the feeling that this could be the competition version that Trek Unbroken will use consistently this season.

What increasingly raises doubts is its commercial name. Seeing it live does not convey the feeling of being a simple evolution or a reinterpretation of an existing model. Everything points to the fact that we are looking at a completely new platform within Trek's catalog, although for now, there is no official confirmation regarding its name or its final position within the range.
Official data is lacking, but on the ground, it already behaves like the reference bike for the team for this 2026. The question now is whether it will reach the market, when, and under what name it will do so.
