Mathias Fluckiger returns to competition in Banyoles
The organization of the Super Cup Massi de Banyoles had not anticipated it, but the news has jumped as soon as we have seen Fluckiger for the first time on a circuit since last August 18.
Mathias Fluckiger returns to competition in the Super Cup Massi de Banyoles 2023
Switzerland's Mathias Fluckiger returns to competition six months after a suspension for alleged doping put him out of mountain biking. Last December, the Disciplinary Chamber lifted the provisional suspension imposed on the Thomus Maxon rider after it ruled that his abnormal result should not have been considered positive.
This will be his first race since he was temporarily sidelined from competition in May by both his team and the Swiss federation. Since then news and information about Mathias Fluckiger has been very measured and in fact little was known about his return.
Fluckiger's temporary suspension and its subsequent lifting appear to have been settled without any consequences other than the forced sporting hiatus the cyclist suffered last season. And the Swiss continues to wear the national champion's jersey he won in 2022, in the same race where Swiss Sport Integrity interpreted as positive an anti-doping test that should never have been considered as such, according to the cyclist's position and other competent bodies.
