Markel Beloki steps up to INEOS with the Grand Tours in his sights
Netcompany INEOS has officially announced this Friday the signing of Markel Beloki for the 2027 season. The young Spanish rider will join the British team as part of the deep renewal with which the team is building its project for the coming years.
Markel Beloki is now officially a new rider for INEOS for 2027
The move does not come as a surprise. Last May, it was already reported that Markel Beloki would ride for Netcompany INEOS starting in 2027, after his performance in the Giro d'Italia solidified him as one of the most promising young Spaniards in the WorldTour.
INEOS particularly highlights Beloki's combination of climbing ability, time trial skills, and growing experience in the WorldTour, a profile with which the team hopes to work, especially focusing on stage races.

The Spaniard was the national junior time trial champion before making the leap to the WorldTour in 2024. In 2025, he won the overall of the Tour Alsace and competed in his first grand tour at the Vuelta a España, while this 2026 season he has taken another step forward with the overall victory in the Tour de l'Ain, where he also won a stage.
His long-term goal is also clear. Beloki acknowledges that he wants to evolve as a stage race rider and aim for results in the Grand Tours.
“My ambition is to develop as a stage race rider and, over time, fight for results in the Grand Tours. I know that it takes patience and constant work”.
Beloki also explains that his arrival at INEOS represents an opportunity to continue growing alongside experienced riders and technicians, while he can work for the team while seizing his own opportunities.
Geraint Thomas, now Director of Racing for the structure, confirmed that INEOS had been following the young Spaniard for some time.
“Markel is a great talent and someone we have been following for several years. He has enormous potential and I am very excited to work with him and help him take the next steps in his development”.
Beloki's arrival thus strengthens Netcompany INEOS's commitment to rejuvenate its roster and attract riders with room for growth. Starting in 2027, the Spaniard will also have the opportunity to begin a new chapter in one of the teams with the greatest resources in the WorldTour, with an eye on becoming, in the medium and long term, a competitive rider for the grand tours.
