Magnus White was one of the most promising young riders on the U.S. CX and XCO team, and was finalizing his preparations for the upcoming XCO World Championships in Glasgow when he was hit by a car near his home in Boulder, Colorado, on Saturday, July 29, and died at the age of 17.
Magnus White, a young American rider, was run over and killed by car
The younger White "was a rising star in the off-road cycling scene and his passion for cycling was evident through his racing and camaraderie with his teammates and the local community." This was confirmed by the U.S. Cycling Federation in a statement last Sunday.
White won the 2021 Junior 17-18 National Cyclocross Championships, then went on to compete with the USA Cycling National Team a full season of Cyclocross in Europe and closed out the year at the 2022 UCI Cyclocross World Championships in Fayetteville, Arkansas. In 2023 he represented the U.S. and the Boulder community at the 2023 World Cyclocross Championships in Hoogerheide. And his next goal was to compete in the Glasgow XCO Junior World Championships after earning a spot on the U.S. national team.
Friends of the White family have organized a GoFundMe in Magnus' memory.
