Litespeed presents "the lightest titanium bike in the world"
Coll dels Reis, the popular Mallorcan climb of Sa Calobra, has been the name chosen by the titanium frame manufacturer Litespeed to name its latest creation in which it pushes its construction methods to the limit to achieve a frame of this material that reduces the psychological figure of 1,000 grams.
Litespeed goes below the kilo mark with its new frame Coll dels Reis
Despite the romanticism that titanium inspires as a material for bike manufacturing, the truth is that, for metallic frames, it is almost impossible to achieve the lightness figures that are achieved with carbon bikes, or at least it was until now, when Litespeed has managed to go below the 1,000 g mark in its latest creation, the Coll dels Reis.

With this bike, in addition to building the lightest titanium frame in the world, 232 grams less than its closest competitor, Litespeed was looking for a purely climbing bike. After exploring the possibilities of new manufacturing methods such as 3D printing, Litespeed has chosen to take to excellence the manufacturing methods they have been using for decades, which, in addition to bikes, have even led them to collaborate with NASA in the manufacturing of some parts of the Curiosity rover exploring Mars.
Therefore, to achieve those 948 g of their Coll dels Reis, Litespeed has refined the shapes of their tubes, their tapers, or their cutting to save every gram on them. A bike that features a BSA bottom bracket (we can opt for the more modern T47 although it would no longer go below the kilo mark) and with a geometry adapted to climbing where features like wide tire clearance that allows for up to 35 mm tires are not compromised.
This Coll dels Reis also does not give up the fully internal cable routing despite being a feature that usually adds extra weight to frames. The only downside we find is that this refinement work has forced Litespeed to establish a recommended weight limit for the rider of 85 kg.
The Litespeed Coll dels Reis is available as a frame kit option, priced at $6,499, approximately €5,999. We can also opt for a complete assembly in Dura-Ace or SRAM Red AXS, starting at $16,500, around €15,200, which can be equipped with Enve or Zipp wheels.
